Hashcat 3.00 released!

wow, i just downloaded this a few hours ago because I didn't feel like booting into kali.

I've been downloading all the hacked password databases I can find and I'm in the process of cracking some of the hashes.
>>
If only there was a WPA2 Reaver
>>
Is there a password cracker around that has a good set of default rules for matching real world passwords?

e.g. stuff like common letter replacements (o->0), capitalization (first letter of a word upper case or not), punctuation (a symbol at the end is common), combinations of 2 words, adding numbers to the end (e.g. 1 or 2), etc.

I know pretty much every password cracker out there has a powerful filter system that can let you codify all of these rules, but I'm lazy and not really in the business of cracking passwords regularly.

A good set of presets for real-world passwords, trained from real-world leaks would be pretty awesome.

I'm a noob myself... but have you tried using hashcat with a simple dictionary list like rockyou.txt or crackstation?

Just a suggestion...
>>
>>55431612
I would love to do that but i only have 2 computers with mediocre cpu's and no gpu so it would take me a lifetime to get anything cracked.
>>
>>55431690
fucking this
everytime I come up with a password, I wonder if letter substitution, 1337 speak dictionary algorithms could bust it quick or not.
would be fun to try to challenge the routine

upload databases please anon?

If you want a password that is immune against these, use diceware, or just pick a good number of randomly permuted english words (bilingual bonus).

For example:
curl -s https://0x0.st/8Ix.bin | shuf | head -n 8

I'm not sure if you understood my post.

I'm asking for a set of templates for extending a naive word list by real-world rules - not for an example of a dictionary. I have plenty of dictionaries, but I don't have any templates for permuting them.
>>
Back in my skiddy days I used a modestly tweaked version of this script to manage my wordlists for cracking: https://adaywithtape.blogspot.com/2012/10/manipulating-wordlists-with-wlm.html
>>
>>55433402
This just modifies the wordlist itself, right?

What I mean is e.g. https://hashcat.net/wiki/doku.php?id=rule_based_attack or https://hashcat.net/wiki/doku.php?id=mask_attack

Also e.g. http://www.openwall.com/john/doc/RULES.shtml

I guess in hashcat terminology, what I'm looking for is a good list of rules.

You are correct, it just "sorts" your wordlists. Don't underestimate how helpful that can be though. Not only because of the potential size of your wordlist library, but also, with time, you can develop somewhat of a feel for what will give you the best results and arrange and make better lists. Hashcat is pretty complicated and the community is pretty tight lipped with their advice. Good luck.

Pyrit and the GPU accelerated variant of Hashcat can be used to crack WPA2 handshakes using all CPU and GPU cores with rule integration.

There is no tool that does for WPA what Reaver does for WPS mostly because the methods needed to crack either are vastly different.

No Download.
