There are 20 users connected to a single tower. 1 of them is downloading hundreds of chinese cartoon torrents at once. Throttle this cunt to 8 Mbps if there are other people connected to the tower else give him the full 100 Mbps so he can fuck off faster if there are no other people connected to the tower.

Very simple and efficient solution that has been practiced since forever by Sprint and T-mobile. The only reason they have plans with data caps is to encourage users to pay the premium price for unlimited high speed data eventually.

Don't go in and just ask "How can I get my plan down as cheap as possible?"

Some reps, I do not, will dance around or pretend you'll "get a better value on your current plan once you upgrade". Since you get a bit more of a discount for doing device payment on the older plans. The reason was the older plans are more expensive then the current ones.

Anyways recognize reps in stores are salesmen first and will not always be looking to get you the best deal. Since the monthly discount IS there to offset the cost of upgrading.

Buy a case or screen protector or express interest in upgrading soon but want to change plans now.

Most will be honest outright no matter what but as someone who has made my bones in this world I can tell you. Commission driven people will try to prevent you from getting what is yours out of spite if you slight them. I need someone to explain something to me.

Currently I have the verizon 3GB plan. I'm paying $45 base fee, then $31 for "Smartphone Line Access". This includes the $5 a month they are adding due to the android I have, which is not that big of a model (It says it has 8 GB of data, but it reserves over half of that for the phone, and leaves me with like only 2 GB for free storage. I was pissed as fuck).

I changed from T Mobile, which was $40 a month, because it would give me more area coverage and I can use it more places. That did help me, but I don't feel like I use my phone enough for it to cost $76 a month. Im thinking of going down to the $30 1 GB plan, but it's only a $15 difference. Not that guy, I'm a SimpleMobile $60 unlimited plan customer.

I think one of the big selling points for Fi is CDMA and GSM coverage as well as the easy wifi integration and the very modular plan. If you are on wifi most of the time you'll generally only need large amounts of data at random moments, like a car trip or hospital stay, otherwise you'll most likely come in under a gig(maybe 2) every month. With that being a realistic scenario, their pricing makes a lot of sense. I also know that Sprint has roaming agreements with VZW and Tmobile with ATT, this effectively results in one SIM card using every single network in the US. You'll rarely be off Sprint/Tmobile except on interstates and rural areas, when you are I'm sure your speeds will be garbage, so at least you'll have basic phone/sms in that case.

If I had a car and decided to get another home internet line(canceled in favor of my 4g) I could completely see the appeal of Fi. For the majority of use cases it will offer a great deal. If you are a person likely to go over 4-5gb a month a cheap tmobile or sprint MVNO would be better.

This is all for single users, I've never researched the state of the family plan market.

Sprint blasted me with "Cut your plan in half with us by switching" so I went to them and showed them what I get and what I pay and they laughed, as if they'd dare ever offer me any level of service at all for $15/month. Fuck 'em, but one good thing came from it: the CSR I spoke with didn't know about the T-Mobile plan and she said she was going to switch that day when she got off work. Sprint offered her no discount worth the trouble even as an employee and the T-Mobile plan would suit her needs better.

T-Mobile still rules. If you live someplace where they have coverage that's not so great then either fucking move or wait as they continue to increase coverage these days. Luckily Las Vegas is covered very well by T-Mobile and I get 60-90Mbps LTE (and 30-35Mbps HSPA+ without issues) no matter where I travel in this valley of ours.

Fucking greedy scumbucket carriers. You know how much one terabyte of bandwidth costs Verizon? About $6.75 USD, that's it. AT&T? Even less. That's a fucking TERABYTE of data for them at cost and they are making money hand over god damned fucking fist like it's water coming from a spigot.

T-Mobile doesn't give a fuck. I've done probably 45GB of speed tests this month and they haven't dinged my data for one single bit of it, watched 21GB of streaming videos, listened to 11GB of streaming audio, doesn't fucking matter - hasn't touched my data at all.

Verizon and everyone involved with it are just greedy scumbucket motherfuckers, including the OP whether he/she/it will like it or not.

Yup, it has a special feature where it hides the tethering activity. Most say it works. However I still use a VPN to hide traffic just in case. It's not too bad, only pay $40 a year for my VPN (PIA).

On my android phone. It feels safer for some reason. Probably a placebo, asked in /sqg/ and they said traffic will be encrypted and tethering hidden either way.

I always check http://www.tracemyip.org and make sure it doesn't say "sprint pcs" before I use my laptop though.

Will carriers ever find out you are tethering if you use a VPN on their unlimited high speed data plans?
