Dude elemental x kernel with stock ROM does wonders. Went from 3.5 SOT to almost 5.5. This is on my 5x.

Question: what stops my phone from dozing? First night with custom kernel, slept around 3am and got up around 11am.

>>
>>55350489
Durability is good, screen has GG 3 and is very resistant to scratches, so much that I never bought a screen protector for it. I've had one for about two months.
>>
Well, it's been done. Few reasons why i went with this over other devices:

Screen: People made a big deal out of this. Got to play with one in hand and it's really not bad. you have to concentrate really fucking hard to make out any sort of play with the pentile display. Yes, the colors are saturated as fuck just like nearly every other amoled screen, but with the new oxygen OS update, you can make it just as yellow as any ips display. personally i liked the saturation, so i probably won't touch it.

-Capacitive buttons: The layout is completely customizable and that's fantastic. Just blank dots for both sides. The only other device that has their button layout the same is xiaomi on the mi5, but thanks to being chinks their LTE bands don't work on Tmobile.

Ports: Headphone jack on the bottom. No other phone i was looking at does this, and it's really fucking smart as most people put their phones in their pocket top first. Heard a lot of stories of headphones getting got because of the placement of the jack in their pockets.

Network compatibility: Phone has complete compatibility with Tmobile's LTE networks unlike the first iteration device which only works on band 4. Wifi strength is also a step above the first phones, so finding reception should be even easier for me.

Price - Shits only 40 dollars more than what i paid for my Oneplus One for 2 years ago. For the price of one samshit or HTC device, i've gotten 2 that'll last me till at least this time next year.

yes, well done oneplus, well done. HOWEVER:

-64 gb storage only, no fucking sd slot. fuck you
-the preinstalled "screen protector" doesn't even cover the whole screen. as retarded as that sounds.

Got it with the karbon case, it'll be here next week if i'm lucky. first thing i'm gonna do now is find a third party protector that doesn't suck absolute dick.
>>
>>55350200

>axon 7 has shitty bezels
72.2% screen area according to GSMArena. The S7 is 72.1%. Unless you mean the black border area which is a real eyesore.

Not the greatest but that's probably the price for having the speakers on the front. Looks good to me but I'm looking to hear more about the battery life.

168KB, 816x1126px
>>55351104
Nearly identical to the htc 10 in terms of specs sans the screen and sd card slot. oneplus 3 actually feels nicer to hold in the hand after comparing both. little more than half the price since oneplus doesn't charge tax and the htc 10 with tax shoots up to around 760 dollars.
>>
>>55351183
Only thing I dislike is the lack of 1080p 60fps and the necessity for their stock to get rapid charge
>>
>>55351233
these things piss me off too, but honestly for 300-400 dollars off of the competition, plus the fact that oneplus devices are developer havens, I'm willing to compromise.

Which i will admit sounds absolutely terrible when you take into consideration their motto is "never settle"

I want a Note. Will the 6(7?) be worth it or should I get a cheaper 4/Edge?

If it matters: I've never used Android and I expect to use the stylus a lot.
>>
>>55352094
>will note 7 be worth it
i mean maybe to previous note owners. if you've never used android, you're not going to be bothered by a lack of sd card support or the smaller battery for sure. note 5's new go for about 520 these days. note 7 will most likely hit 800-900 or somewhere close to that considering the s7 edge's price
>>
I can't decide between meizu mx5(16gb version) or xiaomi redmi 3 pro. Here is as I see it.
MX5:
>better camera
>better screen
>slightly better processor
>better speakers placement
redmi note 3 pro(the 3gb ram, 32 gb rom version):
>better battery
>better price(30 less euro )
>more memory storage (although this is not a big deal to me)
>MIUI
The main thing that makes me hesitant is the fact that I dont know if FlymeOS sucks, cause even though I would take the meizu for the specs, I've had an mi4 and I liked MIUI a lot.
What would you guys do? opinions?
>>
>>55347463

tl;dr what should my charging habits be to maximise battery life?

Also, wired or wireless?
>>
>>55352094
Wait for the seventh Note, there isn't going to be a sixth. Wait to see what features are there first, then decide whether it fits or not. Personally I'd wait, mostly because of Samsung Pay, SD slot and hopefully an improved stylus, though that the rumoured battery life might be worth it not having an easily removed battery
>>
Any opinions on the Wileyfox Spark X?

https://www.wileyfox.com/sparkx/

Seems like a good budgetphone for what it offers, 2GB ram, warranty since it's not directly a ''chinaphone''. MTK 6735 which is performing somewhat better than the 410, which already runs pretty smooth on the Moto G3 from what I've seen. It also has apparently a nice texture on the back.

, my second option would've probably been a Moto G Plus since it comes with a 3.0 charger.
>>
>>55352440
I've heard it's for the best when you let the phone just discharge to about 10% and then charge it, also keeping it in the charger too long isn't good for the battery either.

Just don't sweat it, keep the thing on airplane mode when going to bed ( <1% battery loss overnight ).

A friend broke his phone and asked me to give him my old one, so I tried to charge to see if it worked.
It's an old Xperia so there's a little light that appears if the phone is charging.
I tried to charge it with 6 different cables and 2 different blocks but I couldn't get the light to work more than half a sec.
Most of the time it would just flash once, no matter how much I moved the cable inside the port.

Ye like miui? Well strapped ahead for redmi note 3 then. Performance overall is amazing, battery's pretty great. Only lacking in camera, speaker placement is quite meh but the quality is umph, lack fast charging but manageable with that kind of battery since you'll probably charge a day after.

Overall i like it. Oh yeah bretty nice metal build too if you into that.

>To say that OnePlus's new sRGB mode provides a substantial improvement in display accuracy would be an understatement. The display has gone from being the most inaccurate display that I've seen in years, to being among the most accurate displays that we have on record. Gone is the ghastly blue shift, and even in the standard display mode OnePlus has toned that down significantly. The gamut matches sRGB very well, and both greyscale and color reproduction is right on target.

5,5" is complete max, 4,7" is lowest I can go
I was looking at OnePlus3, as it seems really good

What's the consensus on the LG G5?

It seems like the only decent new phone with a replaceable battery and microsd slot.

I know there are some reported build quality issues, however I don't really care about body misalignments or the "feel" since I'd be getting a case anyway.

You can install another launcher, like Nova, and have almost stock Android experience.

CyanogenMod. It's an operating system that is based on stock Android, but has lots of additional useful features. Usually the camera performance is noticably worse, though.

Ive been using the OP3 since release and personally I think it is more than adequate. I use it throughout the day for web browsing, texting, phone calls, etc and it lasts me a good 10 to 12 hrs. Also, the dash charging is really fast so even if I do run low I'm not too far from full battery life.

Go to a shop near you and play with some 5.5" phones to see if the size suites you. I like 5" better but 5.5" is manageable.
>>
>>55361876
Coming from a Nexus 5, I am impressed by the display. It's colorful and crisp. I would've liked a higher resolution, but I'm happy with 1080. The audio jack is good. It can drive my 700ADs adequately but I usually don't use them with it. Most of the audio Fromm my phone is via Bluetooth. Last, I find that around 50% of the time I go below 15% battery towards the end of the day. Usually this happens at 9pm so at that point I've been awake for about 12 hrs. And the battery saver function of marshmallow really helps maintain battery so it usually has about an hour at that point.
>>
>>55362289
Already did, some are fine, some are not. The thing is, that the RN3P is rather unique.
It's broader and thicker than most 5.5" devices, but not as tall.
Stupid as it sounds, but i've already tried my calculator (FX991X) which kind of resembles the OP3's dimensions and im comfortable holding it.

Sounds like a gamble to me, maybe i'll try the OP3 and send it back withing the 15-day return period if the battery doesn't satisfy me.
My usage would be like 1-2h music, daily 10-20 mins of "game of thrones" during worktime, regular browsing/chatting means constant wifi and my day starts at 0900 and ends at 2000.
Do you think the OP3 can manage this?

MFW I bought a Galaxy S7 and a Pioneer AVH X2800BS car radio and my phone doesn't work with the radio through USB

Anyone else experiencing issues with android phones and USB MTP to a car radio? iPhones work flawlessly but I've always been an adroid fanboy. If this S7 disappoints me as much as my previous S4 did at the end, I'll probably be getting an iphone as my next phone.

It will overheat and throttle to unplayable levels after 5 minutes you play any sort of game, not even heavy 3d stuff. so I unless you like framedrops, lag and constant stutter, you should really avoid it.
>>
>>55366098

Then what can i get for light 3d games? No chinkphones, please.

priv was too high end for a company on the verge of folding it's hardware department. only dedicated blackberry fanboys like me bought one. if they release some mid price tier phones with decent specs and keyboards they can make a comeback. blackberry's biggest enemy is themselves. they seem to remain disconnected from their potential customer bases needs and wants. dumb names and unrealistic price points will kill their mobile division. the priv was a great comeback device that showed that they can still make a good phone but their next phone will be the real make or break device. if they release it with another stupid name and priced too high you can kiss your blackberry brand goodbye.

love my priv but it could definitely be improved
>>
>>55366627
The big issues would've been fixed with an 820 over the 808, battery life and heat.
How good is the SD 625? Although I really don't want to wait until next year for that.
>>
>>55366680
i don't fret over processors. that 820 will be old news in six months too so always wanting the newest chip is a game you can never win. phone runs perfectly smooth with what it has so what's the difference anyway?

battery life is ok. iphone 6 plus was way better but i've never seen an android that can match its battery life so no biggy there. i have no problem getting through a workday on a charge with moderate use.

it can get warm if i'm streaming over 4g or running an emulator which are never optimized but other than that it doesn't get hot. i think a lot of the heat and battery horror stories are from people that were not smart enough to update all the blackberry apps in the play store after they got their phones. something in those apps was causing the processor to clock to 100% which made a lot of heat and drained the battery. after updating those apps it immediately went away.

my main gripes about it are almost all about build materials and not performance.
>>
>>55366802
Build material was the problem I didn't have, although I haven't held any of the early production models, which apparently creaked and were able to have their backs depressed a lot.
>>

I'm trying to make it so that notifications for Messenger, Messenger, etc. vibrate only when the notification volume is off.

unfortunately vibration is set per app and if I disable it it's always disabled.

is there any way around this? the ugly buzzing of my vibrating phone against my desk annoys the hell out of me.

yes, I tried googling it. running marshmallow.
>>
>>55366842
Backlit keyboard makes up for any shortfalls imo. Typing long posts and emails is a joy.

Is there anything better than the Redmi Note 3 Pro ($170) that's no more than ~$50 more expensive? Usages would be games (it should last 3 hours or so on Hearthstone with enough battery left to comfortably last the rest of the day) so a large battery is important, camera isn't too important but it must be better than my HTC One X flagship from 2012. Must have good dev support if it's a chinkshit phone.
>>
is there a ricer thread around?

i want to rice up my phone after a year of standard use but i don't find a good buzz pack, could you guys recommend a good launcher/pack?

I want to disable to camera shutter sound for my LG G Flex 2 but it's a lot harder than it should be. I'm rooted and I've tried renaming everything that could be the sound file in the root/system/media/audio/ui directory and rebooting but I still have the sound (search results say there should be a "shutter.ogg" file but I don't have one). I tried an Xposed code line but that didn't seem to do anything.
Help?
(Before anyone gets on me about creeping; I'm doing this bc my dog is afraid of the sound and I want to take more pictures of her)

play all of the sounds until you hear the shutter sound

also give your dog a treat when you take a picture

Just went through all the files in /ui and nothing left sounds like the shutter.
As for treats that's only realy viable If I know when I'm going to be taking pictures; she's a shelter dog that was abused in her original home so when she wants out of a place she lowers her head and silently hauls ass out, what I mean is that she's hard to stop without forcing her when she's spooked.
>>
>>55367813
camera_click.ogg is the sound for screenshots. the shutter sound is one of the following (i forgot which one exactly). LG is inefficient, they all sounded the same when i listened to them, so i deleted all of the below:
cam_snap.ogg
shot_snap.ogg
shutter_mirror_down.ogg
shutter_mirror_up.ogg
>>
Have had my s7 edge for a week and definitely like it, first Samsung phone since the og gnex.

When should realistically expect to see Android N for my phone?
>>
>>55367822
I already have cam_snap and shot_snap renamed with .bak at the ends, deleting should have the same effect, right? And the word "shutter" isn't in anything for me.

Do you know if the RN3P's camera is at least better than flagship phones from 2012? I've read people comparing it to the S3 which is concerning. Is it that behind the curve?

Hello /spg/
Recently, I've bought my first Chinkphone, and I gotta say, it's not too bad.

So after much researching and /csg/, I managed to find something decent, for my budget of £80 - The Kingzone N5.

Pros:
>Metal Frame
>Nice Buttons
>Still Camera isn't completely shit
>Android 5.1
>Doesn't look too cheap (imo)
>LTE (I'm a UKfag so it works out fine in terms of bands)
>Replaceable battery
>5" screen
>Expandable Memory up to 64GB
Cons:
>Stock ROM has adware in Launcher3
>Battery life is questionable, although this may be due to rooting?
>No plans for 6.0, or Marshmallow Custom Roms
>Took fucking ages to arrive

Bought it at a risk, as I've seen videos online where's the screen comes shipped with issues, thankfully mine did okay.

Just wondering if maybe this'll be good for people on a budget, just might be worth consideration is all, I'm pretty damn happy with it.

I always love these threads, so thanks, /spg/.

Ok I found the same audio files in the app when I extracted the files, now I disabled them but don't know how to repackage the folder as a working apk.

I honestly think the S7 edge is one of the worst displays I've ever had to deal with. The fucking brightness slider doesn't even linearly effect the brightness on the screen. It does this weird hue shift as it goes down so my whites are always a different tint. Sometimes blue, sometimes red, sometimes green. Never consistent. It annoys the fuck out of me. Not to mention the brightness is fucking weak as all hell.

Only problems I have the the Oneplus screen is the saturation is way out of whack. It's turned up to bust and it's a bit eye bleeding at times. Thankfully they are releasing an update soon that lets you enable sRGB mode.

Why are android email clients so terrible?
Literally all I want is a program that doesn't shit itself receiving mail, and pushes notifications within 45s-2 min of receiving and I literally can't find one, either that or play services is non-functional.

I've used gmail, inbox, aquamail, cloudmagic, and none can properly function.
