I recently moved and I tossed out at least 4 or 5 computers that were newer than that. I took them down to the local Ukrainian E-waste site and i'm sure they'll ship them off to poor European countries and sell them for 4-5x what you'd get here.

its big for a reason.

cable management

power supply is out of the way

fan mounted with cable ties in drive bay

Hdds in top so i dont have to take the cover off the main when I do my offsite backups

extra usb ports so if they are damaged it dosent brick the motherboard.

air flow is very good and keeps the temps very low even under load.

Aww, you're leaving mITX?
RIP great build
I'm sure your new one will be great too, but I love the density of your current one.
I know you can't with fans/ a rad on the side, but would it be theoretically possible to mount the res inside the case if you had the space?

This looks fucking ridiculous. Almost as bad as the mITX-in-fulltower pic.

Why the hell would you get a case that large if you're not doing some crazy multi-gpu watercooled build? Waste of fucking space.

Well. I just know I will not be able to get the temperatures I want with the new CPU I'm getting on an overclock I'm aiming for. And since every other ITX case that can accommodate all the additional cooling is so much larger, I'm just going to jump to ATX.

>>55268821
Yeah, sadly. I've been on ITX exclusively for about 5 years now, but, it's time to go back I think. For my extra cooling and spacial needs. I'll keep the NCase, and use it for something else, though. So I might still post some pictures in it. Maybe I'll just use it as a LAN box and keep the 980 in it, and get a 1080 or two for the PC.

If I didn't have the 3.5" HDD, this build would have gone a different direction. I'd likely have put a radiator with fans directly under the GPU, and then mounted an internal pump/reservoir combination in a custom-mound fashion. But, to do that, I'd have to have moved the 3.5" HDD outside of the case. Which, what's worse? Having a reservoir that's non intrusively mounted on the back of the case, or having a 6TB HDD in an external caddy that is always connected through eSATA or USB 3.0? I figured the second option was the more dumb decision, and that's how I ended up with my current build. I actually sacrificed my slot-loading ODD too, just to make room for the 24-pin. Because otherwise, I had no where else to put it without interfering with radiator mounting, or the pump.

The new build will be quite beautiful, and though not as cramped, definitely more powerful. I might actually end up using 40 PCIe lanes, as well. At the very least I'll be using 36.
>>
>>55268862
I was thinking of adding a HDD to my build that is currently just an SSD. Is it very loud with the drive sounds?

What is it? Tile? Is actually granite or some faux stuff?
>>
>>55268976
Nah. As long as you don't get a loud drive like the WD Blacks than you should be okay. Just get some rubber washers and place them between the case and the HDD anyway to stop vibration if you are really worried about it.

I haven't had an issue. I have more of an issue with my fans at the moment.
>>
>>55268995

Bead ties people... bead ties

>Please only use zip ties sparingly... or get a zip tie gun.
>>
>>55269016
Why? Not him but bead ties look worse.
>>
>>55269051
Well you won't be seeing the cables that are bead tied. And they are adjustable. Zip ties need to be cut more often than not if you want to move things around.
>>
>>55269051
Yes, but that's why the zip gun is recommended. You get exact tension control, and it cuts the zip tie off cleanly.

i keep the top portion on because I make an off site backup every week. Instead of taking the bottom case off each time, Instead I take the top bit off, its a lot easier. and I like having the PSU seperate, that way if it blows up or something happens it wont damage the rest of the components. Also the cable management of the case relies on the top portion.

>>55269116

It wasn't easy. I've got the obvious stuff, like a 24-pin, 8-pin, 6-pinx2. Then, there are two individual SATA cables since they're far apart, a MOLEX cable, two fan extensions, a fan splitter, two SATA data cables, and a power cable for the PSU inside the case also. It was quite tricky fitting it all in here. lol

Because it's AMD.

Make sure you have the latest BIOS and it SHOULD work. Since it's a higher end asus board one would think they would have added support to boot from PCI storage devices.

Your biggest issue really is that FX990 doesn't have PCIe 3.0, so you're limited to 1.5gbps bandwidth.

Also, that's quite an odd GPU setup you've got there. Why do you keep the 650 in there? Aren't you using the 780 for everything?
>>

Yes that's the 540, I had one for my last build to. It has really good airflow for air cooled cards, decent spacing for everything so it's easy to work with. I have 2 desks so I have more then enough space for it.

I use the 650 for a dedicated PhysX card and one of my analog monitors because each card only has one analog port.
