Why do companies do this?
because normies don't care what the specs are
>steamos
>>55246981
because its the gtx duh
>>55246986
Then why not just call it Alienware very FAST version 2.
>>55246981
>SteamOS
Remember when people were hyped for this and instead, it just completely flopped
>post yfw Xbones running Windows 10 are going to be the real Steamboxes
>>55246986
more precisely, they know normies aren't good at anything but determining which number is larger, so they can cheap out and put a 2GB GeForce 620 in a computer and normies will think "2GB! That means it's really good, right?!"
>>55247063
it's literally true. microsoft is doing what valve failed to do.
>>55247064
What the fuck are you talking about?
Its an overclocked GTX 860m/960m and runs at stock GTX 750 Ti clocks. So essentially, its a GTX 750 ti.
For $300, its not a bad deal. The hard drive is even 7200 RPM.
Why don't we just use GPUs instead of CPUs since they're so much faster?
>>55247126
Someone should write a CUDA based OS.
>>55247140
or a CUDA port of linux
Anon, check the new R2 first.
>>55246981
Because that's what the hardware ID comes back as.
>SteamOS
>>55247095
>the hard drive is even 7200 rpm
so... its a hard drive?
>>55248978
No, it's an SSD that spins around the case to improve air flow.
>>55249837
pretty much every hard drive is 7200 rpm
>Have idea to make small console like computers and resell them at a small profit to get more users into your ecosystem
>Send it out to a billion brands making it confusing as shit as to which ones will work for what, console babbys clueless, deveive them and confuse babbys with dumb names and so many options
>Make an OS, but make it worse than anything else for gaming even though the only thing it's invented to do is play games and that's basically it
Why didn't they just hand it out to a couple of vendors, with a few choice between entry level mid level and high spec then just use windows? Make a small margin, literally any 1 sale on steam they get is profit, all they even have to do is print money from their fucking money factory that is steam.
It could have worked so well but they fucked it up
>>55249884
yeah nah
