Thoughts? Any specific model I should look for?
(I'm dead serious)

pick the one that powers on when you plug it in.

Do they all perform the same? Did they make any with s-video out so I can archive home movies to my PC? Those VHS tapes aren't getting any younger.

S-Video output?
>>55230337
I'm pretty sure my JVC VCR has an S-Video input and output, but it's in storage so I can't check right now.

Anything pre-2000, before they became cheap commodities built with shit parts.
Go for a 90s JVC/Sony/Panasonic, etc... with a 4-head HiFi Stereo badge on it.

duh, Super Video Output. faggot.

good luck finding replacement heads.
>>55230310
buy a seperate tape rewinder, it's rewinds the tapes much faster and using the vcr to rewind ruins the heads. if you keep it in good shape, no reason you can't get 20-30 years out of it.

I don't know if most VCRs are belt driven, but if they are, those belts disintegrate with time so you'll probably want to check that when buying one.
