So I'm looking for a KVM switch and all of my options look like shit.
Basically I need a KVM that will allow me to switch two computers between dual displays with a max resolution of 2048 × 1080. Most of the stuff on amazon and newegg will only switch VGA and when I look at sites like kvm-switches-online.com everything is designed for enterprise applications and the prices reflect that. There must be some middle ground. Has anyone out there been through this struggle?

What kind of res is that?
And VGA can support 1080p its just analog.

Looks like I cut and pasted the wrong resolution. It should have been 2560x1440. So 1080p switching wont cut it; I need something that can do 2k/1440p.
you're stuck paying a lot for higher resolution. most kvms are for console only servers or racks of low res machines. just bite the bullet and pay out the ass for what you need.

I'm in the same boat. I'vee been looking for over a year. Hoping something affordable pops up on fleabay.

Looks like that wouldn't meet the resolution requirement.
Something like these might work. But who knows what kind of quality they are.
