Is this the best 1TB SSD? Is it worth 400$?
>>55176606
ten year warranty. and i have two 256gb flavor.
No. You need 2TB.

Better start saving up now
>>55176606
>Is it worth 400$?
Maybe. I bought a 840 EVO when 1TB was $400, it's much cheaper right now. The PROs however have MLC and are quite great from what mostly everyone says. Somehow Samsung has the SSD market by the balls. Intel is sure taking their sweet time with xPoint.
>>55176622
700$-2,800$ wow
Yeah. After I switched from a cheap PNY SSD to the Samsung SSD, I've noticed my upload speed has almost tripled. Definitely helps your ratio.
>>55176664
when do you think they will release it ?
>>55176741
They said this year, but I doubt it. It's going to be crazy expensive though, I'm going to play the waiting game regardless. I'll just jump on the NVMe SSDs in the meantime.
>>55176680
Compare the specs to the 850 Pro and you'll see why.
>>55176606
850 pro is a meme, just get the evo.
>>55176622
>October 2015
Dude that disk is old as Fuck and useless as a daily driver. The 850 pro is faster in day to day operations
Also Samsung is about to release 1tb sm961 m. 2 for 500$
>>55176620
I do absolutely fine with 256 and 500 on usb.
Images, vids, music, documents > USB HDD
Games, programs, what else is there? > SSD
>>55176823
10year warranty and basically endless life. You die before the SSD lol
I bought the $40 Sandisk ssd plus 120gb did I do ok?
>>55176863
No you need 2TB. Trust me I'm from the future
>>55176858
They are shipping it next week. Instant buy for me
>>55176914
thanks for the advice boss, I'll sell my current ssd to some shmuck
>tfw when I know your right
>tfw I deleted GTA5 last night for more long term space
why don't you guys get M.2 pcie ssds?
it's not even too expensive.
>>55178732
define expensive ?
m2 pcie SSDs are usually 2-3x the price of an SATA ssd of the same capacity.
>>55178794
Haven't bought a drive in 8 years but 200€ for 256gb seems pretty good to me considering the speed of that thing. You still store data in regular hard drives right?
>>55176606
There was that whole huge stress test of the different SSD brands and Samsung was the top choice in most categories so kinda yeah. But that's also twice the price of just getting two 500GB ones so it's stupid for other reasons.
>>55176606
I have that one as my sole desktop drive. It's not the best, I'd imagine that to be Intel, but it's pretty good. Gets into the 50s under some stress.
>>55180489
No, the 850 Pro probably is still the best. Intel doesn't really have anything that competes against them in this segment of SATA-based SSDs. Especially since this uses a 3D NAND layout and nothing in Intel's inventory uses it yet.
The closest is the 750, but it's more expensive for less storage and it uses the SATA-Express interface which is just trash when PCI-e and m.2/u.2 are available.
>>55178950
>But that's also twice the price of just getting two 500GB ones so it's stupid for other reasons.
Lol wat? Are you looking at the same picture I am? It's cheaper than getting two 512GB 850 Pros.
>>55178794
You have to look at things comparatively.
I goofed it up
>>55180624
was meant for
>>55178866
>falling for the ssd meme
being this dumb.
>>55176606
or go for a 2TB Evo, they are just fine.
>>55180655
>failling for the falling for the ssd meme meme
>>55180624
It's about 6x faster though. So it makes sense.
>>55176606
No. Wait for Optane.
>>55181739
>wait
This is why you still use the computer your parents bought you in 2006
>>55181802
How did you know ;[
If I get small pcie ssd how much it will boost my windows 7 start up time?
>>55181739
>Wait for Optane.
I'd rather buy a 1TB or 2TB NVMe SSD while Intel gets their shit together. Besides, if I move to AM4 with Zen, I ain't getting any of that shit.
>>55181868
Why not? What's special about Zen
>>55176606
Yes
>>55176873
>You die before the SSD lol
kek, maybe if you were 85 years old.
>>55176606
>paying $410 for a memedrive
>>55176606
buy this one instead
https://news.samsung.com/global/samsung-now-introducing-worlds-largest-capacity-15-36tb-ssd-for-enterprise-storage-systems
>>55183437
Here I was thinking of buying a car, why not buy a SSD instead?
>>55176606
ok real talk
just buy 4 smaller ssds and run them in raid 0
you will get 2 to 3 times the performance of the best single ssd
>>55176606
Why do you need a 1TB SSD? Shit, my 240GB drive is unnecessarily large for me.
>>55176622
> Intel® 20nm MLC NAND Flash Memory
why are they still making SSDs with the 20nm process? come competitors were already selling 16nm SSDs in 2015
>>55176606
Why not just buy two 512GB models and run them in RAID 0?
>>55183534
This dude knows his shit
>>55183534
Raid 0 should be called just fast my shit up.
nigga all i need is a 120gb ssd for boot and 500gb hdd for storage what the fuck are you doing
>>55176606
Yes and Yes. Unless you're running a server it won't break in your lifetime.
>>55183505
Never buy a car new unless you plan on keeping it for atleast 10 years. They nearly halve in value once you've signed and driven off the lot.
