I can probably get this card for around 300 bucks. Upgrading from a 980 for better performance on a 1440p 144hz monitor.
Worth the upgrade? Or should I wait for the 1070.
$300 isn't bad for a 980 Ti Hybrid, and the 1070 is probably going to be hard to come by for awhile.
I say go for it. 980 Ti was a great card, and will still be decent for awhile.

Yes, if you can get it for that price.
I thought this was a good deal. Not to mention I can probably sell the 980 for 300 so now I'm thinking it's a no brainer.

Yes

I'd buy it. All indications are 10 series are locked down by Nvida in terms of power delivery to only allow 5% maybe 10% overclock. With AMD having nothing to compete with for ~6-8 months they are holding their cards back on purpose. The 980 Ti on the other hand can OC like 30%.

This is what I was thinking... I got the 980 when it was the top card only because I returned the 970 when the VRAM fiasco came out. I never really liked the card but I didn't like an AMD alternatives at that time.
This kinda ruined the "small" GPUs and when the 1080/1070 came out it kinda reminded me of that. I think it's coming down to this or wait for big Pascal.

Yeah the 980ti isn't obsolete anytime soon. 300 dollars is fucking amazing for that card

>was a great card
It still is, waitfag. Just because SHINY NEW CARD #564 was released does not mean SHINY NEW CARD #563 is bad or any less considering they operate nearly identically and NEW SHINY CARD #564 is barely better than NEW SHINY CARD #563

980 Ti is a great card. If you are getting the Hybrid be aware it is a reference PCB card without the fancy VRM's of other cards. That said it should still overclock quite well and run cool and quiet which is a big plus. Try and get one with that new silver shroud as the gold/black one is kind of ugly imo.

I'd wait for the 1070. It gives a bit more performance and uses less energy.

Wait for the 1070

>Slower VRAM
>Slower bus
>Less CUDA cores
>Lower floating point performance
>Bad Overclocking
Yeah wait for the 1070 goy :^)
