I'm not against technology, just against technology applications that have minimal if any practical use.

fugg yeah, everyone started posting them on/gif/ mostly though.

Less strain on servers which would reduce server bills. Webp is 25-50% smaller than PNG (losless encoding) and 50% smaller than JPG.
