I had a g3, don't really recommend it for him. Beautiful screen, but on lollipop performance was pretty bad without fulmics, and battery life was mediocre.

At least g4 or above for a better SoC, or a Chinese phone like the redmi note 3 pro prime.

I really do miss the screen from my g3 though, very sharp, very nice. My redmi 3 pro is only 720p and I can see, but battery life is fantastic and screen gets very bright so it's good for outdoor use too.
