you can uninstall what you installed (and didn't worked) by using grub

Once you install them, restart the machine, press 'e' when you're in the GRUB boot menu and have the option you're trying to boot into selected, and add "nomodeset" to the line.

It'll look something like:

...ro    quiet splash ...

and just throw in "nomodeset" like:

...ro    nomodeset quiet splash ...

Linux has pretty damn awful driver support. Sorry. Not much that can be done unless you get lucky. It's still one of the biggest problems unfixed problems.
