What do you think about this /g/? Is 5400 a better option if I plan on using it for storage mostly (movies/music/documents etc.) My 7200 3tb seagate is quite noisy.

With the insane platter densities we have now it doesn't really matter. Opt for the lower rpm so it's quieter and saves power. If speed is what you're after consider an ssd. 7200rpm is depreciated.

I really regret buying those 7200rpm drives. One WD went RMA because of ridiculous noise and vibrations that almost rattled my case, the seagate is just noisy by default, but would probably make a good system drive.

Wonder if I could sell that seagate on ebay and get something else. Any 5400 that are good right now?

5400rpm does not suffer from rotational velocidensity so much as more rpm drive so your file will degrade at slower rate. Although I still recommend to underclock your HDD or switch to SSD.

I got a 120g SSD for my OS. Got a lot of room on it for essential programs or vidya. Those WD intellipower green hdd's are any good?

Everything you do not want to lose goes to SSD. HDD files degrade over time so only put non essentials here or have backups made in cloud. I recommed Seagate eco class HDD.

Usually hear people around here say the opposite: ssd deteriorates faster and hdd should be considered the main storage.

It is meme made to troll/spot newcomers

More storage > HD speed.

Because of slower rpm, the bit rot issue should be lesser and thus giving you a longer lasting driver.

>files degrade over time
okay

>rotational velocidensity

Are you trying to meme on me?
