If you need to be convinced to read that book, don't read it. There. I said it. If you really want to read it and become a better programmer, download it and give it a go, don't come to 4chan to get a shitposted thread.

I'd recommend "Learn Java and Android in 24 hours" over it, which is far more down to earth and covers actual applications in the expert domains acknowledged by highly acclaimed componies such as Goggels and Fleecebook.

But I already know Java, and a little bit about Android.
I know how OOP works, but I'm not in the right mindset to properly structure my programs. I'm still thinking in the imperative way.

Is SICP for me?

i read that they don't use sicp anymore for their introductory course at MIT as A&S don't consider it appropriate for today's state of the industry.
doesn't make it any less of a great book, just thought it's interesting to know.
