Not sure what private trackers are all about?
>The mission of /ptg/ is to promote the highest possible standards of tracker service by providing members with opportunities for professional development, by recognizing technical competence through examinations and by advancing the interests of its members.

Check out the wiki and update it yourself if you want more instead of complaining like a fucking faggot. https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/Private_trackers

>staff occasionally read these generals and have posted here before
>staff may pretend to be normal users asking for invites and when you invite them, they ban you for inviting strangers
>sneaky bastards will try to convince you into believing that cheating can be evaded, it can't and you will be banned with those bastards laughing at you
>people may report emails and other personal info posted here to staff to get you banned
>most of the invite offers here are people trolling you with false hope - begging for invites is a waste of time and you should just interview at What.cd

It's a PSA that better sites exist than the public ones and an invitation to join. We convince newcomers to join WCD since they perform the best background checks on people entering the site, they have staff on the inside of torrent invites who will cross reference emails, ip addresses, hell even posting habits. If you don't pull any red flags, you're 25 GB and 5 uploads away from the best trackers around, many who would never open sign-up and thus one of the few ways in. However WCD is great, many other sites exist and can function the same way. We do not promote these methods (joining open application, buying invites, sharing accounts) because they threaten the security of the sites. we basically do the work of tracker staff, referring users to wcd to be examined and then passed along like the dispensable twerps they are.

>Hi fellow HDbit´s!
>I have written a subtitle downloading agent for the Media Center called Plex which automatically download subtitles for media you have downloaded from HDbits. The reason for that is that the subtitles on this site is very well synched.
>If anyone is interested in trying it out, simply send me a PM.
>Known issue: It will not download subtitles that are packed in RAR-files as there is no easy way to code such a solution. I am hoping that HDbits will change the rules for this in the future. Hopefully leave all single episode subtitles in the database instead of removing them. Or at least season packing them into ZIP-files instead.
Sounds pretty cool.

Just got banned from PTP for cheating, only a matter of time before all my cabal accounts get hit. Thinking I should mass-PM for invites to every invite forum I'm in, if I use a different e-mail and IP for any invites I receive then they are not likely to trace it back to this, right? Of course the inviter could notice my account got banned after the fact, but if I target unofficial giveaways that shouldn't be a huge problem.
>>
Is AoM actually for magicians? I've had a sneaking suspicion for a while now that their name and public description are just another clever misdirection to hide their real purpose, and they intentionally make the entry requirements absurd to cull out any fools that actually try to get in through normal channels while pretending such channels do exist in order to defray suspicion.

Power Users with more than 150 weeks membership, Elite & Above (Non banned countries only)

If you want an invite better hurry the fuck up because the thread's already been there for a month and HDB loves moving their recruitment.

Use Zoraster's script and your elibraries. If you've no elibraries just use libgen and mobilism but don't tag them as retail (trumping doesn't really happen often anyway and you only need the class for HDB.) If you want to consolidate your 100 uploads longterm and don't have an elibrary for retail uploads one of the mods is offering this: https://bibliotik.me/forums/5/4591

>The /ptg/ Leecher's guide to easy private leeching!

>Don't feel like seeding long term? Want to just download and be done with like you did on TPB? A member of WCD/PTP/BTN but you don't want to fuck up your stats and get also get stuff to cross-seed? The following sites/trackers are good for downloading quality content without seeding long term, if at all.

>1) MorethanTV (MTV) - Lots of TV shows and some movies. Ratioless unless you want higher userclass. No HnR at all. Easy to join via most private invite forums. Serves as a minimal BTN backup for popular and somewhat-popular content. Rare stuff has to be requested.

>2) Torrentshack (TSH) - Ratioless general tracker with minimal HnR and no stats are recorded except upload. Well-known as a BTN mirror thanks to their bot which grabs new episodes from BTN within minutes. If they don't have what you want, they emphasize using their request system, which is fast. Movies come from the scene, p2p, and internal encodes. Easy to join via most private invite forums. Retention here is poor for obvious reasons.

>3) Baconbits (bB) - Ratio-based, but no HnR at all. Good for downloading movies, TV seasons, books and music from other trackers. Not great for bleeding edge stuff unless it's popular. Has a good request fill rate since members are also on top trackers. Tons of freeleech, and anything over 20GB is freeleech, plus BP can be exchanged to freeleech the torrent of your choice. Their invite forums are as effective as WCD's as well.

>4) SoItGoes (SIG) - Not a torrent tracker, but a Mega linksharing site. No seeding at all and very few dead links. Lots of internal movie encodes from HDB/AHD/PTP, tons of TV seasons, some books, and plenty of music. Not great for bleeding edge new stuff because of the relatively small userbase - better used as an archive for stuff older than a week. Use with Jdownloader or Megatools to make downloading even faster and easier. Recruits from bB and TPS.
>>
>>54937624
Where do you source an invite for SIG?
>>
>>54937502
You mean the OverdriveBB thing? I've never had too much luck finding requests I had in my library. Even when I did they were stuff with a small amount of bounty that I'd have to go on the waiting list for weeks/months to obtain. Unless I'm just using it wrong or something. Most of my upload right now has come from filling a few high bounty requests with Amazon refunds, but I'm hesitant to keep doing that, and am nowhere really near the 20GB mark as it is. Maybe it's best I just give up for now, PTP and BTN are good enough at the moment anyway.
>>
>>54937634
He just told you, you blind fuck.
>>
>>54937667
No.
Use the goodreads or amazon script not the overdrive script.
Find a book that is not on the site (there are hundreds of thousands.) Then look the book up on goodreads. Upon doing this, you'll see the 'upload to bib' link and this will autofill the form. Then uncheck retail, fill out the format, put in a few tags and bam. Uploaded. I've had books from many months ago which haven't been trumped even though they're not retail.

A good portion of my actualy upload amount has come from uploading retail non fiction from ebscohost and the like because non fic authors like to bulk their books or make them extremely long but people will also leech textbooks which aren't retail.
>>
>>54937743
Huh alright, I guess I could get the 100 uploads that way though the 20 gigs might still be a pain. I guess I could always just upload audiobooks or something for that.
>>
>>54937777

Hey guys, I'm starting a summer class online and there is one required text needed for the course, Intermediate Algebra (12th ed.) Bittinger, M., Beecher.

I looked at everything I have access to, WCD, Kickass, Piratebay, many Reddit subreddits but couldn't as of yet locate a torrent for it.

I was hoping one of you guys with access to some private textbook tracker like bibliotik.org could help me out. In return I could give them a bunch of skins in CS:GO over steam they could use or sell for steam credit.

Would appreciate it tremendously.
>>
>>54938238
You have no accounts of any real worth. If you are really worried read the fucking rules and FAQ on each site. If you need to download and seed shit get a seedbox for one fucking month and you will get massive upload on all of those sites.
>>
>>54934713
you can still seed to connectable peers, but not to non-connectable ones. check antivirus, whether you properly set a static internal IP, and whether you've forwarded the port correctly through router/modem everything.

No one's going to give you a Bibliotik invite.
Mostly because it's against the site rules and can get you banned on not only their site but other trackers too.
Also because the sysop browses 4chan and anyone who gave you one would be an idiot.

Furthermore, the book you want is not actually on Bibliotik (11th edition only, not 12th edition)

I don't even care about /r/trackers. In fact, it's better to have /r/trackers in existence than not have /r/trackers at all, it's important to share information. However, due to the inordinate levels of faggotry at /r/trackers and the fact that it's run by people who either are senior staffers at cabal trackers, or at the very least benefit in some way by kowtowing to them, we need somewhere else where we can freely share information, and the most obvious place for that is /ptg/. What other free forum than this /ptg/ do you, or anyone else for that matter, know of where you can easily go and find out information that is withheld just about everywhere else?

They basically don't have any official threads any more. I don't know how many times you niggers have to be told, get on fucking WCD. The only other trackers that are easy to get into and have even slightly useful invite forums are MAM and AB, but if you get in WCD you won't even need them. Whatbetter checks .flac albums you already have, and transcodes and uploads them if they're not already on the site. It's fully automated once you set it up, so this keeps the cuck game to a minimum.

If you don't have enough albums already downloaded, you can go to better.php to download some that don't have transcodes on the site. If you do it this way you will take some ratio hit, but it shouldn't be too bad.

What actual retard did this
Once again a reminder NOT to upload .torrent files that you downloaded from this site to ANY other site, including but not limited to other private trackers. Even if it's your own upload, do NOT download the .torrent file from HDB and then upload it to some place else. Not only can this lead to people inadvertently cheating on both trackers (and getting disabled for it), it also endangers the safety and security of BOTH communities. Uploaders found in violation of this rule will receive a very long warning, or may find themselves disabled permanently.

Note that this is completely unrelated to content exclusivity. This solely has to do with the .torrent files themselves. So even if you have permission to upload, create your own .torrent file!

This also serves as a friendly reminder to other trackers to start changing the info_hash on upload. If you're not doing this, you're doing it wrong. It's really not very difficult and it compartmentalizes the risks.

Gazelle already ignores the tracker address in the .torrent you upload and swaps it out with whatever the tracker for the site is.

Also you can't just change the info_hash. The info_hash is calculated from the contents of the torrent. Changing the info_hash would require arbitrarily changing something like piece size and then generating an entirely new bencode, which isn't actually possible since the tracker doesn't have the original files. If two torrents have the same contents, they *should* have the same info_hash and suggesting otherwise is foolish at best and stupid at worst.

>>
>>54945575
>Nigga don't know HDB now requires permission before uploading to any other tracker.
>>
>>54945831
Right, and that's fine. They're correct about that. You should be generating a new file just to be safe. But, it can't be done from the tracker's end. Users have to do it.

>>54945835
But that's wrong. Please, read the BitTorrent standard. http://jonas.nitro.dk/bittorrent/bittorrent-rfc.html#anchor13

The info_hash is a hash of the info key. info points to a dictionary containing length, piece size, name, and hashes for each piece. There's no magic key that a tracker can add. Doing anything else is either definitely going to break the torrent, or it's going to be doing something out of spec, which will likely cause problems on any client that follows the spec (which should be all of them).

No, changing piece size will change the hash and other trackers will only accept the hdbits info hash. Nothing you can do about it. Only trackers staff and cross uploaders can.
>>
>>54945905
Wrong again. Just download any hdbits torrent and check the properties in your client. you will see source: HDBits in there. Bc that's in the info part, it will have changed the hash. Different hash, same content is what you want.

No my point is that HDB has been the number one private tracker in it's niche and is highly coveted by everyone in the scene.
It's also home to the biggest fucking nerds and best encoders.
Now, if what nick/lb06/mm has written is incorrect do you not think one of the many autists on the site would pick him up on it?
I think you don't understand what he means when he says changing the hash UPON UPLOAD

Yes, he said that trackers should change the info_hash of a torrent when it's uploaded to the site. Which is *not possible without breaking the spec*.

>>54946224
Sure, you can shove whatever you want in there, as I've said multiple times, but that's out of spec. They're non-standard keys, and could very easily cause problems in any client that follows the spec. HDB really shouldn't be recommending that people do arbitrary non-standard shit.

I'm an autistic encoder. Have a few years of expirience encoding x264. I've released over one hundred self encodes under -NOGRP or random p2p handles across an array of private trackers.

I've never concentrated on uploading to PTP or AHD, although others upload my work there.

Is there a reason to be on HDB? I want to get better at encoding and I've reached the point where sites like doom9 and other trackers are of little help with my specific questions.

I know the obvious answer is "yes," but I am not interested in joining HDB soley for its content or to release my work (I prefer "trickle up"; upload to a lesser tracker and it gets reuploaded up the ranks, more satisfying to see a movie you encoded and uploaded to hdspace or tehc and make GP on p2p tbrh, I know GP doesn't mean shit).

I want HDB for hopefully access to its encoding resources, such as information and support.

Can someone confirm that HDB is the best place to get better at encoding?

>>54947317
Hello pajeet! Mad that poo in loo always gets made fun of?
>>
>>54947240
For encoding yes, but AHD is more friendly community compared to HDB.
>>
>>54946761
Perhaps that's what we should do. The crowd will probably disappear in that case however. I'm not really sure what the answer is. I don't think we should just let it die, but it's probably going to happen unless somebody comes up with something soon.
>>
>>54947240
It has encoding guides and a lot of knowledgeable people who are active encoders. There's a ton of discussion about sources and encoding on the forums, more so than PTP and AHD. It also has access to a large amount of sources, and I don't mean just the first source that hits. Certain movies will get 10 different sources for people to compare. Encodes are usually redone if a better source hits.

Now if you're asking if it has ultra 1337 avisynth plugins/scripts that you can't find anywhere. Or super highly detailed encoding that you can't find anywhere else then no, it doesn't have those. The resources on other trackers are comparable. But HDB probably has the largest and most active community of 'good' encoders.
>>
>>54947360
I'm no pajeet but there's nothing comedic about it, /g/ over rates the shit out of it
>>

>The crowd will probably disappear in that case however
Good, everyone by now should know this general is god awful, even when it was """good""" it was just circlejerking avatar fags. It is more suited to IRC, but that was ruined as well.

I rarely post here anymore because the threads rarely contain new things. I think having threads every once and a while, and not a general, would keep a lot of the shitposting out while still being able to discuss trackers.
>>
>>54947373
I'd certainly believe that. I do a lot of SD content so I'm not sure if questions pertaining to DVDs and VHSs would be welcomed at AHD (I know HDB is HD only too but as far as I'm concerned SDBits is just a tracker and the real forums are only on HDB, correct me if I'm wrong).

>for the record
I mostly do HD but encoding HD content is a lot more straight forward (banding, zones etc all simple); whereas encoding a shitty source takes a lot more work.

how does my ptp taste
>>
>>54947576
Probably, and if not already there you could just ask someone. Like I said it's got the most knowledgeable and active encoding community that I know of. That's probably the best chance of finding good use of a plugin outside of the actual author.
>>
omg, how shit is /ptg/ these days?
i think i'll stay away for another few months.
keep up the good work kiddies.
>>
>>54947373
>>54947419
You can't affirm that because you have never seen the encoder hidden forums and irc channels on both.

Also, dion is better than all HDB encoders save for one or two. HDB was clearly better in this matter when nick007 and others were more active, now it is debatable.

Plus, ahd has tehlarsie

What does "curry" mean in the context of a tracker?
>>
>>54943808
I haven't had an account disabled for inactivity pretty much ever, it's not hard to just mid-click my bookmark folder for torrent trackers and sign into each of them if I'm not already once every few weeks.
>>
>>54948138
lots of 1 and 0 seeders, shitty selection, shitty design..literally everything can be deemed as "curry" by some retard
>>
>>54948156
Agreed. This literally gets posted in every thread and still people cry about inactivity deactivations. It's so fucking dumb. It literally takes 2 seconds one a month and 99% of accounts will never go inactive.

You just described HDBits.org.

>>
>>54948268
Even if you do happen to fuck up, almost all trackers are pretty forgiving and will reactivate you at least once, especially if it's clear you've actually used the tracker in the past and are not just a collector.

It's really not hard though, I'm the most forgetful nigga on the planet and I still manage to not get disabled, fairly sure most of these sites don't even enforce it as often as they say they do and many of them openly stop enforcing it once you hit PU anyway.

If the guy who invited me just got promoted should I PM him to congratulate him, or would that be weird and he has forgotten about me by now? It's been over 2 years since I got invited.

I'm doing my graduate thesis on private torrent trackers, I already have accounts on the trackers I plan on studying but do you think it's best I inform staff of what I'm doing beforehand? Or will they likely respond badly and I should keep it quiet for now?
>>
>>54948945
Kind of a silly comparison. You want a movie you go to PTP, you want a show you go to BTN. It's best to have an account in each.
>>
>>54948988
They will most likely ban you in fear to attract attention to the sites.
>>
>>54949069
Ah, that's a shame. I wanted to include interviews with users and staff but perhaps it's best I do this after I've finished the data collection phase just in case.
>>
>>54948988
Do not tell them what you're doing and take every precautionary step possible to conceal what you're doing. Tracker staff are unpredictable, loose cannons, we can try to predict behavior to some extent, but as far as I'm aware nobody has ever produced a thesis specifically on private trackers so your circumstances are unprecedented and there is reasonable cause for belief that they would ban you.

If you must jeopardise the status of your accounts in order to produce a thesis up to the standard you want then that's a matter for your own discretion, but if you do really value your accounts and you don't have to risk your accounts then simply don't do it.
>>
>>54948988
there's no harm in asking, it's not like you will ask for the users personal ids. Send Staff PMs on various trackers, ask them if you can start a thread in the forums.

This isn't the paper I was looking for, but it's a paper.

The other paper I can't find analyzed ratio and BP as an economy.

All the studies use no-name sites, though. Not sure why. It's possible the big trackers really don't want the attention. Not that some shmuck's masters thesis is gonna make waves.

Assuming it wasn't filmed digitally the grain could be natural no? Or are you talking about something obviously more exaggerated than the usual grain you can see in decent quality encodes?

Yes he baits, and for those who he doesn't bait personally he gets users to report for him.
The worst part is that he does it all in the 'name of security'
Like seriously, fuck off nsa
>>
>>54950713
Well, banning people who invite randoms from here is one thing, I can kind of understand why staff would be uncomfortable with that. But some people talk like if staff find out you post here at all you will be banned, and that they actively try to bait people into outing themselves as /ptg/ users with honeypot links and the like, kind of gets worrying.

Xfiles had grain, nickbrake007 treated it like noise, processed it as such, likely NoiseProcess=2, tried to remove it and then NoiseRestore="generate," creating horrible encodes without cause

I watched a couple of seasons of Hannibal then started the third, while I watched the third season as it was airing, it definitely wasn't grainy. Sounds like DON processed something that wasn't there and generated noise
>>
>>54950738
yeah they only fap to things that actually have a dick...
>>
>>54950800
You sure it's the same source? Like BD vs HDTV or vice versa, usually I notice a lot more grain on BD stuff.
>>
>>54950820
Hannibal season 3 was filmed in the 2010's, two decades after the 1990's x-files.

True I watched the third season of Hannibal from scene/webdl and yes BDs have tend to have more grain (more grain = higher bitrate, which BDs and can accommodate). however I don't recall the first two seasons, which i watched BDRips of, having much grain if any. It was a while ago and probably watched a crappy scene BDRip like rovers but they would have left the grain in - they don't use scripts and only x264 so they can't process/remove if they wanted to.

original anon post a screenshot of don's hannibal s3
