Returning an unopened nexus 6p and getting a galaxy s7 edge, because I found out I have the money for it. Nexus 6p just seems too big, and I would really like the water resistance and micro sd slot. Worried about touchwiz, hopefully it's not too bad.
>>
>>54896184
So the assumption about HTC making the new nexus were a hoax?

Marshmallow touchwiz is fine. You can debloat without root and there are free material themes on the Samsung store.

There might still be a tablet, or even a small ~4.5" device yet. Nothing is confirmed.

HTC will make the smaller N5X successor and Huawei the 6P successor is my bet.

It's possible Huawei will make a larger phone and HTC will make a smaller one. That's what happened last year with Huawei and LG.

Is the g5 as bad as everyone here says? On paper it looks to be my best option.

Things I look for:
Verizon, USA
SD Card Slot (must)
Waterproof
USB C
Metal
fingerprint scanner
not phablet
swap-able battery
low-light camera

aside from the meme-tech modularity of it which doesn't really harm anything besides apparently some phones didn't line up well, and a slight decrease in battery time I don't have a problem with it even though no other modules will probably ever come out. My other thought was the S7 but I really like USB-C and glass backed phones are retarded. Waterproofing sounds very nice though.

Thoughts?

I know it is an apple thing to say that androids lag over time but this is ridiculous.

I recently rooted/installed custom rom (Stock google play store edition) for my HTC one m8 and it is UNBEARABLY slow, it will occasionally have decent speed but holy fuck apps such as snapchat, and chrome are fucking atrocious. I thought by installing a clean ROM it would fix this because when I was running stock it was fast for a while then it started slowing down again. I don't even have that many apps, how do phones slow down so much over time? They always seem lightning quick for 6 months then degrade, way to fix this?

I honestly don't know what to say. My Nexus 5 and redmi 3 pro are both very smooth, only phone I had issues with was the LG G3, and I blame the 1440p screen for that.

Never had an issue with my Note 4 when I had it, my current 6s Plus doesn't feel much different at all.

Also fingers crossed for a waterproof Note 6 this year. I miss sketching with a real Wacom stylus, 3D touch + finger doesn't cut it.

USA - Tmobile, Whats important:

-5.0~ screen. Anything bigger probably wont feel right.
-Tmobile 4g LTE support Band 12 a must. Support for other cheap carriers like republic wireless
-Good rear camera - Ideally samsung Galaxy S6 level or close to it.
-SD card 128gb slot.

Budget around $200-250. I just bought a G6 active in mint condition off ebay - clean IEME but it was fucking locked to AT&T and they said it was active on some users account. Now im back to square one with my battery dying 1st gen Moto E.

Is it possible to downgrade from Marshmallow to Lollipop on Verizon phones still?

I know Verizon tried to use some trickery to prevent this sometime back.

Marshmallow is draining my battery much more than lollipop ever did on my galaxy s5 (g900v). That's even after letting it go through several charge cycles.

I'm planning to get an ASUS Zenfone 3 ZE552KL as soon as it launches in my country this June. I need a midrange phone and my budget is roughly $350. Depends on device and manufacturer. A good flagship will typically see 2 major version updates, ie launch with marshmallow, later updated to N then O. You will also get monthly cumulative security updates. A lesser phone will likely not get any major update and only occasional bug fixes.

I've been a die-hard WP user for the last few years. My first smartphone was a Lumia 900 and after that I bought a Lumia 920, which I still use today. It's getting time for a new phone and with more and more negative news on Windows Mobile I've decided it's time to leave the sinking ship and head over the Android.

Right now, I've got my eyes on the Moto G4 Plus, which comes out somewhere this month. It's fairly cheap, runs near-stock Android, has a good future for updates and has Active Display, which I really like, because it's somewhat like Lumia Glance, which I thought was a great feature on my L920.

I'm not a very heavy user and I hate gaming on a cell phone. I will use it for practical and social stuff only. Is there any reason for me not to get this phone or are there better alternatives in the €250-400 price range?

There's a security update of some sort available for my first gen moto g lte. I'm rooted, so I can't just do it how I do normal OTA updates. I grabed the file using a file explorer and placed it onto SD memory, and tried to flash it using TWRP and Flashfire, but it would not work. If I do it through flashfire, I get some sort of error saying that there were "unexpected conditions" or something like that, and if I do it through recovery it just gives me an error but does not specify what is wrong.

I want to know what is the proper way to go about flashing an OTA update without removing root, since I already tried that and it did not make a difference.

I have Project Fi with a Nexus 6P

Would never go back to Sprint and I enjoy my <$40 every month. Coverage with Sprint/TMobile networks is also very good were I live.

Also, one thing that most people don't think about is how easy it is to use their website or to pay the bill. I've had Sprint and Verizon in the past and it's damn near impossible to get past the bloat on their websites for normies.
>>
>>54908493
A 6P costs $420 right now, would you recommend getting one or holding off for the next model?
>>
>>54908451
I got a used one recently, but I don't care about the OP3 because these phones are so rare in my small 3rd world country, this is the first time I was able to see one, I couldn't let it get away from me, there are some other chink phones but their software is just horrible.

It's a good phone for the price, software needs some optimization I feel, and MM is taking a long time to arrive, other than that, it's great.

I would have waited for the OP3 if I could.
>>
>>54908538

I came from an HTC OneM8 and my only gripe is the size of this thing. It will never sit as comforatbly in a single hand. Otherwise, I love everything about it. It's fast and doesn't have any hiccups, especially thing fingerprint reader on the back.

A friend of mine opted for the cheaper 5X, she's happy with it and is a app-heavy user.

I can see myself holding onto this phone for another 1 1/2 years easy.
>>
>>54908493
how do data caps work on project fi?

i have a grandfathered unlimited data plan from verizon so i use like 30gb a month easily and pay $60
>>
>>54908649
Not the guy you were replying to, but it's $10 a gb, not intended for that kind of heavy use. I only use (at most) 3gb in a month so it's perfect for me. I would just keep your plan-a grandfathered unlimited plan from Verizon is very lucky.
>>
>>54908649

If you have an unlimited plan still (not sure how) you should stick with it. From what I remember with Verizon, they would force you off if you wanted a new phone.

On Project Fi every GB is 10USD. 100MB 1USD...down to the pennies.

I signed up for the 2GB plan ($20 call/text, $20 for 2GB, 40 total) but I only use around 1.5GB/month so I'm usually paying $35/month.

Anything over or under your plan is exactly the same. If you use 10GB it's $100. Flat fee.
>>
>>54908538
When is the next one coming?
>>
>>54908232
Great if you hate mobile data with all of your heart. I was charged over $100 for a month of use. Immediately sold my nexus 5x and got a boost mobile phone with their unlimited high speed $55 plan. I've been using 40GB of data each month with 0 problems so far.

>>
>>54908698
>(not sure how) you should stick with it. From what I remember with Verizon, they would force you off if you wanted a new phone.

they only force you off if you get a new phone on contract from them
if you buy a phone elsewhere then swap sims/activate on verizon, you keep the plan.

it's good though, because i makes me consider other phones i wouldn't otherwise, went with a 6p myself for the custom rom potential and it's a nexus so it'll get custom rom support FOREVER

Yeah, ignore those living outside their borders, those protesters do not exist and do not threaten the western world in any way.

Let's also the ignore the antisemitic majority of muslims both in muslim and non-muslim nations, it's not like they are fueling the hatred for the western world with their belief and creating radicalized fanatics willing to commit jihad.

Let's also ignore the daily religious attacks within muslim nations that affects their very own people, the very believers of Islam. Is not like they are victim of their peaceful religion in anyway, they are living peaceful, comfortable lives, just praying and shit.

Swapped my V10 for a HTC10, its like night and day.
Got a GearS2 for free, its as much of a gimmick as you'd imagine.

What didn't you like about the v10?

Big battery and not being chinkshit sounds okay but the price...
Considering bc of zerolemon.
>>
>>54911218
Its fuckall huge, like annoying to have in a pocket huge.
The buttons on the back pissed me off to no end.
The gimmick little screen on top is both pointless and has terrible burn in after only like 6 months of use.

The huge replacable battery and the sdcard slot were the main draws for me, but I couldnt ignore the above as a daily driver.

So far though the HTC10 is beating it, the battery last longer (although its not replacable) and it sill has the sd slot.
The only thing I dont like about it is USB-C, but thats more of a growing pain than anything else.

Any suggestions for a camera app that has voice commands like saying,"Cheese" to take a picture?

I have a LG Phoenix 2 which I love that has the feature but also have the Idol 3 4.7 which is slim as fuck but doesn't have that voice command feature for pics.

A exynos or even a sd820 stomps the 810 into dust.
>>
>>54911775
and yet in real world performance, the 6P is just as fast as the S7

lol yes they do. The S7 exynos has way better battery life than the 6p too. And doesn't bend if you sit on it either.
