Are there any places for /g/-related job searching, self promotion or career networking other than Linkedin, Facebook, G+?

I am trying to get my foot in the door and am finding it hard.

Do employers care about stuff you do on places like Github, and are they willing to accept stuff as yours that you do under a username like coder99, or do you have to use your real name for it to count?
