Every competent linux user should be able to install software in a chroot jail. Arch install process simplifies it.
>>54875555
>Why not just use arch?
Because kernel management in Arch is a dumb piece of shit in comparison, because you get a Debian-like three repo hierarchy in case some new packages hate you, it's easier to install and set up wifi on, and because the openrc support is better (though the same team works with both distros, they seem to be more active on the Manjaro side)

>>54892553
You measure distros by performance alone, based on a test of one person on limited hardware, and use this as a yardstick for what constitutes a good distro. In the end, they are all linuxes. If there is a bottleneck, you can swap it away, unless you roll with some tarded repos like Jessie.
>>54892617
>on limited hardware,
on the SAME hardware

stability and peformance are different things and can be different on different hardware. I run Manjaro and I've yet to come across a stability problem.
Performance is different: for example, I get better performance with the proprietary graphics driver than with the free alternative.
I don't play games, so massive performance doesn't matter for me, and wouldn't make a difference due to the age of my hardware anyway.
>>54873578
I would
But then I was reminded it used systemd and the openrc iso doesn't work for shit

I love how we're all fighting instead of agreeing that GNU/Linux is great. If something is arch based, the arch fags always storm in because it's not pure arch. We get it, you can install without an installer and you use brand new packages. Woopdy fucking doo.
