I put my mSata m550 crucial SSD ( onboard ssd ) into a WWAN port in an older HP notebook. I tought this was an mSata port cause it fits.

Can anyone tell me if I broke my ssd by doing this? thanks

also how can i get to the data on the ssd, do i really neeed to buy a msata to usb tool?
>>
mpcie ≠ msata
>>
>>54871555
yeah ok i know that now but did i potentially kill my msata ssd by placing it in there and powering on the machine?
>>
>>54871607
pins shouldn't align. just turn of the machine and take it out. look for a usb2.0 to msata device.
>>
>>54871790
its already out but I'm really afraid I broke my ssd by putting it in and powering on the machine. :(

1. You're a retard. Sell all your electronics and go live with the Amish or something.

the universe is punishing me again :_S

some mpcie slots do support mSata but I guess this one i tried didn't, was too quick to put it in and just try yes.

The voltages seem to be equal too so theres a chance I didnt fry my msata ssd.
hopefully,

I'll read some books...

r/the voltages seem to be the same/the voltages seem to be lower on mpcie
>>
No you didn't break anything but it obviously won't work because of HP's stupidity. It'll only work in a properly labeled mSATA port on an HP laptop and even then it could get disabled because of their fucktarded whitelist bullshit.

Get a Dell or go home. Lenovo and HP use those fucking whitelists to push people into buying their own specific hardware which blows - Dell does no such underhanded bullshit.
