Do I really need to clean my GPU periodically? My last two GPUs died on me after one year and two years respectively. The highest temps I ever saw on the first one was ~64C, and on the second one 59C, only while playing videogames. Otherwise they were both in the low 30s. It doesn't seem like dust was making either heat up. Is there some other reason to clean em?

just clean the dust out you fucking dingus. my gtx470 has been running at 100*C for 5+ years and it is still perfectly fine.

If the dust isn't making the thing heat up, then how is it damaging them?

I wonder if something is wrong with your PSU. For a while I literally had to buy a new hard drive every 3-6 months because it would die. After I replaced my PSU the harddrives stopped dying for no on reason.

Found the problem.

I'm talking about two different builds though. However, I did have to send the PSU in my current build for refurbishing like two months after purchase...

Oh dear, found your problem. Never skimp on a PSU.

With enough humidity dust is able to conduct electricity, despite with high resistance and you can easily end up with more voltage > dead part (or fuses, if you lucky enough).
>>
>spend several hundred dollars on CPU, GPU, RAM, all the glamorous shit
>buy cheapest chinky piece of shit psu you can find
>wonder why shit keeps breaking
Hurr durr fuck sakes that's some cuck bullshit brah
