What Wifi adapter do you guys use and how would you rate it?
>TP-Link TL-WN851ND see pic
It's cheap but it's pretty shitty. Been having trouble with it dropping connection with the router while still signaling my system that the connection is intact.
>>52515098
been using pic related for years now. does its job and thats all i want
>>52515098
Alfa wireless, only
>>52515098
why wouldn't you just run a cable?
there is zero reason to have wifi in a desktop computer. Get powerline adapters if you don't want to run cable.
>>52515098
Been using this since forever.
>>52515182
Implying powerline is better.
>>52515098
Set the router connection to 40 mhz you dumbass
>>52515212
power line is immune from radio interference, frees up a pci slot in your pc and is cheaper than a decent wifi card.
>2016
>not using Ethernet
>>52515182
Lmao fuck off powerline shill
>>52515563
>normie can't internet without muh wifi
I'm lmao at you son
>>52515158
Sorry for late reply. I was actually checking out my fusebox (where the router is located) and how I could best go about laying a cable from there to my room.
Will probably do that in the coming days.

My roommate reset the router some time ago and he changed the password but can't remember changing anything. I'd rather not call up my ISP, be stuck on their helpline for three quarters of an hour before I get actual help only to then explain to them that it's not the person calling that made the contract with them but that they should get me the password.
I'll try to see if I can do a fresh install with the Installation software that came with it.
Fuck Wifi, I should really go back to ethernet. It's just so comfy never having to worry about your connection, ever.
>>52515507
it also introduces 10-15ms or latency, at a minimum, worse if your house has shitty wiring or you live in an apartment. Modern N/AC wifi shits all over this powerline bullshit
>>52515507
who says you need to use a PCI/PCIe wireless adapter?
>>52516261
You are retarded on so many different levels. Theres literally a reset button on the router that reverts the login to the default username and password which is usually just admin admin.
With my work computer upstairs and modem downstairs, I couldn't use cable so I bought what OP has and it had similar problems. Speeds were ~30Mbps at best. Then I bought power line adapters and they were ~20Mbps since I have shit cabling in my house so I refunded those. Finally I bought a range extender like pic related with an Ethernet port at the bottom of it so use that and funnily enough, I'm getting actual Ethernet speeds of ~70Mbps almost constantly.
I guess there's no objectively best option for connections but for my house it's Range booster > Wireless > Powerline. Make sure to check your wiring setup behind the walls if you don't know what's best.

Master race!
I have the one antenna version, it's pretty shitty and I need to put the computer on top of my desk to get decent ping.
Ethernet cable is hard because the router is too far away :(
>2015+1
>still using wireless technologies
They are all vastly inferior to all wired tech including powerlines.
>All this broadcom garbage
Only cards worth getting this gen are QCA9880 ones (for mPCIe full-height) or Intels (for mCPIe half-height or M.2).
