thinking about upgrading from my i5-2500 and 680, how's this look so far? Also, should I go with the 980 or the r9 390?

I've heard something about how this into a good time to buy a gpu when another nvidia gen is coming out soon called "pascal"

probably because it requires Windows 10, otherwise it looks like a solid performance boost for me. I already use Windows 10 so I don't see any other downside, besides the fact that I need to upgrade my mobo and RAM in addition to the CPU

My build is a slowly developed Frankenstein since i was in high school.

Considering building a second PC with no GPU only for work, I work from home and run a lot of VMs and need my entire 16GB daily.

I end up having to juggle applications for RAM usage.

Considering a xeon build with 64GB RAM and a 1TB SSD.

In the future if I need more power i'm happy to slap a second xeon and more ram in.
