What are the most important things to look for in a laptop when

2.) battery life
3.) brand
4.) processor
5.) display resolution (because everything in budget is 1366x768 good luck finding a better resolution for more than what is considered budget maybe <$400)
6.) GPU
7.) RAM
8.) Storage

Are the ones with an additional graphics card worth it? Or are the integrated ones sufficient

discrete graphics cards are really annoying to set up, especially "switchable" graphics, which only work with a manufacturer-distributed driver, and that driver will never receive updates after launch.
Not to mention, anything but integrated graphics will kill your battery life.
Just spring for a better processor,
If you need heavy graphics, get a desktop instead.

Either go down in screen size, or up in screen resolution.

Ditch the idea of using dedicated graphics cards.
And instead find one with a intel iGPU, since this will improve the batterylife by alot.
