I don't know about 10-bit, but regular shit, yes

Even Lincoln is unimpressed.

Is it powerful enough to set an emulator box up to snes era?

But why would I want one? I have more than enough capable devices.

Typisk
>>
>>51535876
It should be, I was playing N64 and PlayStation games on a tablet with a 700MHz A8

>>51535879
I'm hyped because I want to build a just because cluster, and these are cheap enough to have a decent number of nodes with an easily justifiable price.

>>51535888
Yeah, I'm trying to find one, probably going to have to wait
>>
>>51535879
It's literally $5. Skip ONE Big-Mac this week and you can have something that will last a lot longer. You should use the opportunity to be a bit creative instead of shoveling food into your face fatty McFattykins
>>
>>51535901
Forgive my ignorance, but what is the point of a cluster? What kind of advantages would you get?
>>
Anyone found where to buy them? I saw they were free with MagPi issue 40, but they seem sold out everywhere as well.
>>
>>51535914
Clusters are advantageous for workloads that can be heavily threaded. You have a controller node that distributes tasks and collects results to and from the slave nodes
>>
>>51535904
I already have a computer that does everything the raspi can, but well.
>>
I was thinking of picking one up a couple days ago but fuck they pricey for those specs.
These look perfect for what I want, I will legit buy like 5 of the things.
>>
>>51535934
Yes but is it the size of your penis?
>>
>>51535914
>a just because cluste

>why?
>just because

Also they're fun.
>>
>>51535937
I think I have an old android phone that fits the bill.
>>
>>51535935
> I will legit buy
You can un-legit buy things?
>>
>>51535951
you can on the blackmarket
>>
>>51535846
>out of stock everywhere
Why even live.
>>
A computer - even one as minimal as this - for $5 is seriously impressive to me. Not much use to me personally, as a computer that's not networked is pretty useless to me, but I can see the potential it has. I'm half tempted to get one anyway, largely for the novelty value.
>>
>>51535962
>not being able to buy a toy makes you suicidal
>>
I'd rather spend $15 and get a much much better board

Better even than the RPi 2
>>
>>51535981
Look where you are mate, this is /g/, it's basically all about toys anyway.
>>
>>51535951
All the shills on /g/ saying "I totally bought this" or "There are so awesome, I'm totally buying this"
Turns out my late 90's vocabulary has the best of me, because I can't find anywhere that hasn't totally sold out of the Zero.
>>51535962
Brings me back to when the first Pi was just released and everyone was waiting for the things.
Wonder how much more efficient they are at making the things now?
Looks like the things just have the SoC and a few other discrete components, not all that much to source.
>>
>>51535983
"Better" can be pretty subjective. What is "much much better" to you for $15?
>>
What SBC are you rocking /g/?
I've got a CI20. I was hyped for the CI40 with its hyperthreading, but the specs put me off a bit.
>>
>mini HDMI
>USB-OTG adapter required for USB-A peripherals
Why? Because we don't already have too many adapters for everything? How precious is that 2mm thickness?

Those adapters will definitely cost you more than the device itself.

This almost sounds like a perfect use-case for USB-C if the port wasn't so new.

>This almost sounds like a perfect use-case for USB-C if the port wasn't so new.
Probably would be. But the primary goal for the Pi is being cheap.
>>
>>51536053
So what is $15 that has the features you want?
>>
>>51536070
Well, let's see, compared to the Pi Zero, my $15 board has all this >>51536029

Which is also what the Pi 2 B has

But the Pi 2 B is way more than $15, so I went for the $15 one

CLI still needs a display. Unless you're using it by remote over the network, but at that point it's no longer a desktop as such.

Alternatively, you could hook a dumb terminal up to it, but that's still technically a display.
>>
>>51535846
why would they use microusb?
Even if they wanted to save space, you are still going to waste more just by using an adapter
>>
>>51536472
It'll ultimately be because it's cheaper - either for the ports themselves or the space on the board for them.

the regular pi's only have 100mbit ethernet which shares bandwidth with the usb port, you'd get nowhere near the bandwidth saturation of your line using any pi variant

>>
>>51536633
If you can't think of uses for these things then don't buy one. There are people who actually have uses for these but can't find them in stock because faggots waste the supplies.
Not that I care anyway.

You can setup a small torrent/web server if you are into that. or a vpn server too
Real powerusers would be making their own circuits and connect them to the pi via gpio to control them

The only OS I know of with comprehensive BCM support is OS X. What the fuck is the point of putting something so restrictive in your hardware if you want to sell to LE OPEN SOURCE GEEKS? All the real nerds would just use cheaper/better shit, they don't care if you give the money to a charity organization for starving paralyzed Jewish gay African midget cancer children who have to watch nothing but 1980's cartoons. I don't care if it costs $50, I want one of these pissboards with hardware that I can actually use without having some third-party shim made of petrified cow shit holding it together.

Not everything is done with a purpose, anon. At $7 (including Ethernet adapter/Pi) a node, why not build a useless cluster?

Poor people give a fuck about GNU/Linux?
A screen+mouse+keyboard+audio cost more than 5$
Basically, you are literally retarded

Nice math there.
But I am 50% sure you did that math wrong.

>screen
you can buy a 7 inch screen for 30$, the only expensive part. Even poor people have old CRT TVs lying around you know...

>mouse
1$ mouse

>keyboard
5$ keyboard

>audio
1$ earphones

>for the actual board
5$

That all adds up to
30+1+5+1+5
=41$

if you cant spend 41$, you should really reconsider your priorities

I'm a normie, but I think Raspberry Pi is brilliant as fuck.
But... be serious, do I need one?
>>
>>51540686
Don't forget about a USB hub to plug the USB shit in
>>
>>51540734
2$
>>
>>51540758
and an ethernet adapter for the thing to be useful
>>
>>51540758
sorry, make that hub 5$, thats the lowest
usb to ethernet adapter is 3$-5$, wifi is around the same
>>
>>51540800
where are you quoting those prices from?
>>
>>51540800
Add all that shit together and you're better off buying the much more powerful Orange Pi PC, which is like $15
>>
>>51540822
cheapest stuff from ebay
>>
>>51540493
did you learn to speak english like a month ago?
>>
>>51540800
Including those, that makes the nigger rig's pricetag something like 51$ considering you go for one of the networking options (either ethernet or wifi). Not too shabby, you can even get CRT TVs for free, so that might even go as low as 21$, a lot lower than raspi 2
>>
So as a regular and average retard what will this miniature computer do for me?

Have any CHIPs even shipped yet?
Meanwhile my brand new RPi Zero shipped 2 hours after I ordered it.
(oh the no/no thing is because I didn't want the overpriced accessories/sd card stuff with it)

Saw some tweets about MagPi on my way to class, managed to grab one from Smiths in Cambridge market square at about 8:50 this morning. Apparently they only received 6 but will get another 19 tomorrow. I downloaded the mag and read it this evening, haven't opened the physical copy. I've ordered the £4 micro usb/hdmi adapter bundle from Pi swag and will wait until at least then before opening it. In the mean time if anyone I know says they have kids that wanted one and can't get hold of it I might just let them have it. Not really sure what I'm going to use it for at the moment.
