you just made reading those PDFs a LOT easier. easily can put an entire page on the screen and it's upscaled so you don't have to hunch down and squint to read some fucking PDF just to get your studying done. the T420 will have displayport and VGA inputs so just make sure it comes with one of those cables.

For .pdf's: Cheapest 1920x1080 monitor on Newegg/Amazon (if you are really in Kansas you shouldn't get tax) and then treat it with care.
