So was this Intel's biggest fuck up?

I've clocked mine at 4.8GHz and it's still fast as fuck and still no reason to get Skylake.
>>
>>51474455
I'm still using a 2600k at standard clock, I haven't found a reason to upgrade yet, maybe in another years time
>>
>>51474455
You would have to OC to 7 GHz to put it on par with Intel's current offering
>>
>>51474455
I'm using a 6700k right now. The only reason I did so was because z170 boards are a cheap way to get into DDR4.
>>
>>51474455
Should have got a 2600k breh
>>
>>51474455
I can't play games and watch twitch streams on source quality without getting frame drops. Mine is only at 4.2ghz though.
>>
>>51474473
Why the fuck would you run a K processor at stock speed? Are you retarded? You could have been running that shit at 4.5-5.2ghz for free all this time
>>
3570k represent
>>
>>51474610
Enjoy that CAS 12
>>
>>51474654
I'm using the PC for gaming its not like I can even tell a difference.
>>
>>51474642
3570K here as well.

Thing is basically a rebranded 2500K.
>>
Running a 2600k @ 4.5 here too.

Next upgrade will be Gtx 680 lightning to something like a pimped 980 and a 500GB ssd to replace my 640 WD black HDD which houses all my gaymes
>>
>>51474821
Running a 3570k at 4.8 ghz.
>>
>>51474641
If you never hit 100% at stock speed then what is the point of overclocking? You are just running it hotter for nothing.

I never got round to it and I've never needed it, I just got K in case I felt like doing it

You high?

Question for you lot;

These SanDisk SSDs...
They meme tier shit or are they good enough to use for a Steam/game drive (already have an 120GB ssd for win 10)
Which model of the SanDisk SSDs is best? Seems they've got all these fucking names like extreme, ultra, ultra II, plus... all BS.
>>
My NEW desktop build this year has a used i5-2500. The only thing better would be an i7 because muh virtualization but otherwise it's a top-tier CPU. I could easily see myself using this for another 3-4 years.
>>
tfw you just reached the 3 GHz frontier and people is talking about faster CPUs as a real thing.
>>
Got a 4790k for dirt cheap and a free 200 dollar z97 mobo, so Upgraded from my 2500k then sold the board, ram and cpu to a friend for 200 bucks.

He is quite happy, he was using some shitty ivybridge i3.

Maybe if you keep repeating it forever you won't have to upgrade.
>>
>>51474484
That's not OP's point. Of course it isn't actually on par with the new intel processors. He's saying it's still fast and can run games well, which is the reason he doesn't need to upgrade yet.
>>
>>51474821
>3570K here as well.Thing is basically a rebranded 2500K.

With PCIE3.0 support. That can be quite important, given that intel jews up on the amount of pcie lanes.

My 3570k can't OC past 4.2ghz without raising the voltages a lot... I need something like 1.4V to run 4.4ghz stable, and the thermals become insane at that point (and that is after delidding and using liquid pro).
>>
>>51477153

Uhhh what cooler are you using?
>>
4690k coming in the mail in 3 days im gonna cum
>>
>>51475409

tfw you buy an i3 4170 because it's cheap as fuck
>>
>>51476968
Depending on his usage, that ivybridge could've been better than that 2500k. You jewed your own friend
>>
Okay is 4.5Ghz at stock voltage good for a 4790k?
>>
>>51474455
3770K 4.8Ghz 1.32v here
he's a keeper
>>
tfw almost bought one but cheaped out an bought an i3
>>
I think the Q6600 was a huge fuckup by intel, I still use one as my daily driver, and while I'm saving money to replace it, its still a powerful enough daily pc for a internet use.
>>
>>51474455
>2015
>still thinks clock speed is even remotely an accurate measure of cpu performance
>>
>>51479308
>and it's still fast as fuck

u blind fem?
>>
>>51478732
It was an i3 3220 m8, definitely was not better.
