While I was at work today the roomie stayed home to let the att u verse guy in to install our cable and Internet. He put the main hub in his room and put the secondary receiver in my room and the living room. Is he getting any certain kind of benefit that I'm not getting? Pic is of the receiver in my room

Absolutely, you should put that fucker in the living room right away.
I don't know what U verse is but if he has the internet modem in his room yes he's certainly in the position to give himself priority.
Depends if he's computer savvy and a dick.
When I lived with 2 other dudes I set up QoS for them because despite me setting up a torrent server that was as simple as "Drag the torrent file into this folder and it will start downloading to the NAS" they still thought it would be fun to both run their own torrent clients with no sort of upload limits. Thereby flooding the connection.
Is he a dick?
if he is more savvy than you, let him.
He's not computer savvy at all, he's just a kid who grew up always getting what he wanted from his parents, he's kind of stuck up in that way.
That's a pic of what he's working with. Everything except for the ps3 was installed today as compared to my original picture

No. I work for Time Warner but the way U-Verse works is: every device connected uses internet bandwidth. All of U-Verse services are provided through the main "hub" device in the home and, rather than run via coaxial, they usually have one main line to this device and then wirelessly stream content to the other receivers. The only "benefit" he might get is stronger wireless signal.
But it doesn't matter. If you're watching an HD stream, it's eating your available bandwidth. Try it. Do speed tests with all TVs on and all TVs off. U-Verse is busted as fuck.

Secondly, U-Verse runs fiber into the home up until their device there and then coaxial throughout (if required), there is no benefit one way or the other as to where this device is if your home is wired with coaxial to every other room. The signal levels will remain the same.
Honestly who lives in dorms. Like srs. Get your own place and do your own shit.
