This. Most bullshit estimations ever. The percentage of the meter is different from actual battery percentage.
I get 7 hours average on my rMBP13.

if i'm being totally honest, as someone who has thousands of dollars invested in the apple ecosystem, i just find osx safari too sluggish to use and have since SL. they've made big improvements but i had already been using FF on desktop--synced to FF Home (iOS)--when icloud syncing beta started. ime it never was as fast as ff sync or chrome sync or chrome-to-phone which was instantaneous.

so it's not about desktop safari's sync primarily but its performance; as a result i also avoid mobile safari and have my 6+ defaults to chrome > safari, g voice search > siri, and even spotlight has a direct google search replacement for integration
>>
>>47781231
Safari is objectively the fastest browser on OS X. that is shown in testing time and time again. iCloud bookmarks, tabs, passwords, handoff etc. has always happened instantly for me. Sounds like your next computer should be a PC and an android

You should have bought a goddamn desktop then.
You have no need for a laptop.
>>
>>47782693
No I don't. I spilled apple juice and vodka on my X220 and it randomly hangs up ever since. It does that totally at random. It can go on for 72h straight and hang 20 minutes after boot.

Nor do I have the space for a desktop at the moment although you're right a desktop would certainly suit my needs better, but that's besides the point why does it matter how long the battery lasts? When it goes flat you charge it. The only people who care are mac fags and that's only because it's the only other selling point other than the fact it's overpriced
>>

>only 11 hours

ugh, the x250 gets 17-20 hours. few weeks back I had to go to Straya for a presentation so I look the new x250 we bought for the office, I was watching movies and fell asleep, then woke up 8 hours and half later and it was already by the 5th movie on the playlist and had 50% of battery left, so I began optimizing my apps code and working on the presentation by the time we arrived still had 30% (15 hour flight)

then we I get to the lobby this guy I'm checking the presentation with lets me "Dude you're at 30% better charge that thing" then after 2 hours of revising I'm at 20% and then i begin charging it during the presentation

Before this I carried my X220T with 4 spare batteries on my backpack during my flights
>>
>>47783153

oh boy the memories

I remember the T60 almost 10 years ago, with it's amazing 5 hour battery life, before that during flights If you had to work in the plane you at least needed to carry 5 extra batteries

What mac shills fail to mention is you get 'great' battery life only when you use nothing but the integrated gpu.

So if you actually have a real machine that has a dedicated one, and you dont use something like gfxcardstatus (something I have seen anyone else on /g/ use), every time you open safari or anything it feels is intensive you switch to the dedicated gpu and your magical 1,000 hours of battery life goes down to 3.

But if you have some dumb retina machine that only has an integrated gpu, you are dumb.
>>
>>47784703
why would a facebook and twitter machine need more than an integrated gpu?
Don't call them dumb
that's actually pretty smart, even when they never chose that on their own or..spend a single fucking thought on that topic

but /g/ is just not the place for them

Install windows

Seriously 90% of linux distro including Ubuntu reduce battery life considerably

the remaining 10% are mostly very minimalistic ones that can do shit and the other are ones that actually give good or even better battery life than windows, but require tweaking and knowledge about battery life to get them right
>>
>>47784808
so that when you push your little 13" high resolution display is doesnt stutter when scrolling.

what is truly funny is the integrated gpu can run to an external monitor just fine on those, but if you have a dedicated you CANNOT go to an external display without forcing it, which doesnt make any fucking sense
