Both Apple and Microsoft have acceptable font rendering; they just prioritized different things. Linux has shitpoor font rendering out of the box except for Ubuntu.

Have you looked at a Surface Pro 3? It's got a great screen, and once you get into the super high resolutions the difference between types of font rendering disappear.

Yeah, it's encrypted, and Apple itself claim they can't access the messages themselves, and they certainly haven't handed logs over even once to law enforcement. This is important because the government where I live (Australia) regularly gain access not just to phone message metadata, but to the actual messages. There's clearly widespread abuse, and I doubt there's really any real justification for ever invading people's messages.

The technology world should get behind encrypting everything, to the point that governments simply cannot snoop anymore.
