pls tell me the bottom screen cap is from the last movie and not the upcoming one.

It's the same with Jurassic Park. The dinosaurs look worse.
>>
>>47573759
do you think they ran gentoo.
>>
>>47573782
Jurrasic Park 3 was better than the original. It actually used robots instead of CG.
>>
>>47573796
A lot of the original was robots too
>>
>>47573802
The robots were alot stiffer in the first one.
>>

Yes

>>
>>47573782
Depends. The renders are alot sharper and less misty than the first movie. The skin textures are better, but the original had skeletal animation that was less embellished.
>>
>>47573782
>>47573759

the fact that these movies are actually happening offends me the most, not the shitty graphics.
>>
>>47573782
What's weird is the weakest aspect isn't the creature, it's the stadium which looks like a shitty matte painting. And architecture is easier to render than creatures, screwing up the non animated parts is silly.

This seems to be a recurring problem in modern movies, see the background in this bit from the new star wars trailer for instance
>>
>>47573815
The stiff robotics in the first Jurassic Park prevented them from exaggerating the movement of the CGI too much. In Jurassic Park 3 the robotics movement were improved drastically so there was far less contraints on the corresponding cgi animation of the dinosaurs, so even though the render quality is much higher in JP3 to point where the lighting and textures matches more closely between animatronic and cgi, it's all for nothing since the movements looks like a fantasy movie.
>>
>>47573759
Seeing this makes me appreciate the practical special FX masters of old even more.

>>
>>47573782
Why can't they make CGI look as good as Godzilla's costume in
Godzilla v.s Destroyah?

Seriously most movies i've seen with CGI being used for giant monsters suck ass. King Kong was an exception I suppose.
>>
>>47573897
jesus, those walls look terrible. And the cloth too.

The daffyduck troopers look horrible, but that's a design choice rather than just failed 3d lighting/texturing like all that architecture.
>>
>>47574013
I'm not sure why movie CG looks so bad in general for the technology available nowadays

We're capable of better graphics rendering in real-time on a consumer machine than the crap they showed on that terminator trailer
>>
>>47574013
Because americans will laugh at the suits and it won't make money
Also aren't we getting a new toho big G movie? I wonder how good the suit will look.

That Heisei era wasn't that good an example and he could barely move which is why the fights are mostly two monsters on opposite sides of the screen shooting beams at each other. And increasing the creature size made the models look like shit.

I enjoyed the beam spam and the slow walk of destruction. That new Godzilla movie was pure shit. That dubstep soundtrack, that shitty cgi, the shitty actors. I don't get why people like that breaking bad guy so much. He just doesn't work in a Godzilla movie. The other 2 main characters in the new movie were laughable at best. Godzilla movies are meant to be fun and entertaining. The new movie lacked all of that and was filled instead with lovey dovey drama bs.

Here's the problem they couldn't make up they're mind on what kind of Godzilla movie they wanted to make, either the somber tone of the original or the monster mash of a versus, they tried to put both and they ended up with neither.

>critiquing a trailer about the compositing
The compositing work in trailers is ALWAYS shit. A-L-W-A-Y-S. They need to produce the scenes that won't be ready until months down the line right at that time. Of course it's going to look awful.

Wait for the movie to come out and THEN critique the awful compositing. Once they have months to work and render it, then they won't have any excuses for the shit work they do (ie The Hobbit).
