Searched the catalogue, didn't find a thread.
I'll be moving into an apartment soon and I'm looking for new desks, specifically alternatives to legs.
i haven't seen you in a minute.
le epin spoogy :v)
NOTHING NEW CAUSE I'M BROKE AS FUCK.
Speakers: Audioengine A2
>How can your skull even?
It was able to for a long time before I got pains from the bumps. But now I wear a beanie basically 24/7 to deal with my long hair so the beanie helps with the bumps.
You're jumping to conclusions way too quickly. I'm guessing you never thought about me pulling it forward when I'm actually using it. Also it's in a much higher elevated position than normal i think i was watching a stream on it right before taking the pic.
>tfw can't have a nice setup because of the fucking dimensions in my room
I just want to be comfy and have a big desk /g/
Yeah, that's on the list. Finding work in my field is tough, and I'm starving for work right now.
On the list of things to get:
Different case and/or little table for case
Whole bunch of other shit that would make this post too fucking long and le epick blog.
looking to replace pretty much everything on the desk as soon as I can
still haven't gotten around to getting any poster or something for the wall
Well I'm not the most /g/ savvy but I was wondering what you guys thought of my desk
That's not camera distortion btw the table is curving downwards in the middle I'm worried it's gonna snap one day
Morning guys :D
8/10 neckstrain and tower speakers that close to listening position, but proper subwoofer and decent gear
7/10 Monoprice monitors and hat over tweeter. Also no sub.
10/10 would add sub
8/10 Mousepad irks me
7/10 lost points for tape wire (99c store has those wire tacks for like 50 of em at a dollar) and anime wallpaper. +9000 for GT3 and mouse/keyboard.
4/10 that monitor and random boxes taking up space for monitor 2
10/1 would lurk
7.5/10 potential but need new speakers
9/10 get a better headphone stand
7/10 terrible speaker placement and kek Klipsch's as nearfields
10/10 need sub
Welcome to /g/.
Alternative to legs?
Like a storage unit in both ends of the desk or something?
It was a Kraken X60 AIO, and I originally mounted it by taking the intel bracket, drilling it, and using 4 bolts and very steady hand tightening to mount the cooler to the card. Now I use an MKCool that some dude made as a bracket for AIO's and GPU's.
Yeah. Like >>47092906 but I don't quite like those Ikea ones.
They have another set but it's only in white.
Been thinking of making the table sort of like a shelf, so that you can skip the front legs. But that means permanent attachment.
Might take a new picture today. Nothing's changed though.
What monitor mount is that using?
I should probably take a pic when the sun's up. My headset blends into the curtains rather well.
What do you think about Dell U2515G + LG 34UM95 ? Nice setup?
What else goes with LG 34UM95?
Yeah, I thought about that too, but I'm going with an elevating desk for my new apartment.
I just need a piece of wood for the main surface, and another for the monitor shelf.
It's going to take a bit of work, though, also because I need to think of a way to make some spacers for the shelf at work.
The only raw material available is aluminium, which is great, but the dimensions aren't as big as I'd like.
So I'll probably have to get the shelf part cut in three pieces because the middle piece has to have more space between the desk and the bottom of the shelf.
That's where I'll be putting the amp+pre-amp for my speakers+headphones.
At least my little coffee table is progressing nicely.
It just needs a piece of wood on top and it'll be done.
It weighs a damn ton, mainly due to the 300mm bearing acting as base.
>tfw the spare parts from the container at work are ridiculously expensive
I think the bearing cost something like €5000.
The long spline axle costs about the same, I can't remember the exact figures. Not that it matters. But it's kinda neat.
Elevating desk? You mean adjustable height sort of deal?
Oh yeah thanks for reminding me, I have to take that into consideration. Hiding amps and shit under the table.
My father works in the cnc and similar business. The cost on some things are truly ridiculous. But at the same time those items are made with ridiculous precision. And as soon as they are worn out, completely useless!
You could use that ballbearing for some cool shit in the future.
>You mean adjustable height sort of deal?
Yeah, I bought one from a work auction a while ago for $10. Pic related; actuators and control box.
I didn't keep the top because I was going to replace it anyway.
>You could use that ballbearing for some cool shit in the future.
I doubt it. Not anything cooler than this coffee table I'm making, at least.
The bearing is worn out, and it doesn't really turn all that well - but it does turn if it just gets a little force.
I'm a machinist's apprentice, and when it's not busy in my department at work, I've got a little time to make some small things.
Our equipment isn't that advanced, but we've got an old 3-axis mill which accepts NC code, so it's technically a CNC mill, it just can't do tool changes on its own.
Clean, well lit, nice aesthetic. Seems a little small and neck strain inducing though.
As usual I like it. Hope you get some work, man.
I genuinely can't think of a point for improvement.
I like, seems comfy. That mousepad, though...
It's nice and clean but it looks like you don't have much room to move the mouse..? Also why the clock if your computer is right there?
Messy, maybe even dirty. Nah.
It could be worse, r-right?
It's OK but the boxes on the desk make it seem a little disorganised.
Pretty clean and I like the lighting, although if they're rbg maybe make them a whiter light? Also your cables could be even tidier, I'll guess.
Nice desk, feels a bit sparse though. Needs character I think, as you mentioned, a poster would be good.
Do I ever say anything other than "very nice" about this one any more.
Tucked into a random corner, mouse and keyboard on different levels. Not sure what to think.
You know my opinion by now
Nice and clean. Seems peaceful. I like your floor.
Like the print. It seems like you have lots of things but you know exactly where everything needs to live.
Potential but I feel like it's really "average". Maybe because the desk is a bit cluttered.
It's nice although the back monitor seems a bit precarious there.
Minimalistic, I like it. Maybe bundle those cables together a bit more or something.
Surely b8...I don't want to believe.
Potential but the messy desk and mismatched monitors get me.
Clean. Lovely monitor and arm/stand thingy.
Still saving for speakers etc, searching for artwork.
just finished building my compy with the help of a friend.
10/10 the masterpiece is here
This man knows his style
He's not a poser using a shitty TV as a monitor
>Dem rackmounts sitting on a table
>Coke cans stacked above power supply and Oculus rift
>Glass of whiskey(?) right above expensive mechanical keyboard
A genius of our time
Do I go for a full blown HT Receiver for speakers or is there a decent interface for stereo control for PC?
>metal dragon dildo
Maybe if we get "free time" on the CNC lathes at the school next time I go there.
Since I'm an apprentice, I have to go to school for 10 weeks throughout my apprenticeship (the rest of the time I'm at the workshop).
At school we're being taught some more advanced manufacturing techniques and some theoretical stuff. CAM, robots, etc.
Pic related; I just got back from school this week, but we were tasked with making a lifting jack this time; using CAM software and such.
Pretty basic. I don't have anything heavy enough to properly test it with, though. I can lift myself, so at least it works.
Because I know nothing I was wondering if anyone could help.
If you had an amp (just for quieter bedroom listening) that could do around 25W per channel, what wattage of speaker do you look for? This whole thing really confuses me. Maybe I'm a retard but I'd rather ask and get some actual advice.
I guess this is going to get a little blog-y but I'm going mad.
I want to get the Ikea MALM desk and it's continuously out of stock, I even went, the very same day it came back into stock and they sold the last one an hour ago (i got there at around 7.30pm). It feels like i'm literally fated not to get that desk. So. What are the best alternatives?
Right now the best two look like; http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/S89006353/ and http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/60261037/
Rate no hate please.
I know the desk is mad small but I kinda wanted it that way, so I didn't clutter it up too much which I do when there's too much empty space.
Also no...the shelves aren't going to fall.
What is going on with his game?
didn't you double post? if so see the other rate
also looking for new lamp suggestions. i want a sitting floor lamp that isn't too expensive (<$60 would be preferred).
also, how expensive are the led lighting behind some of these bsts?
Thanks for the rate.
I got my led lighting from eBay. Some chink strip, 5m for £16 and it works just fine, it has presets and basic RGB control.
You can cut it into lengths that you want. I used some of those no more nails sticky pads and stuck it onto the back of my desk.
Now I understand why no one elevates their mousepad.
Im glad you say its clean, cause it currently has 7 beer bottles, a wine bottle, two wine bottles, an empty bowl of chili, my empty coffee mug, and a can of beer on it.
Its spring break I'm not givng a crap right now.
A wine bottle and two wine bottles?
>not realising they were in front of a mirror
>awful wall color
>generic case and no desktop wallpaper
>tacky coffee table
>horrifying pj pants.
Awesome! Modern furniture super cosy and well lit tidy as hell colors all match and makes it look warm.
Wheres your puddy/doggy? Also what is that tub on the table full of?
>Plain metal box
Fractal Design R4 or R5 with window.
Yeah that makes sense.
I'll post my furniture devoid computer area once more before I leave for the weekend.
Feel free to rate/slam/suggest things I should do. Still looking for good L desk suggestions
Took a quick video of the setup from the listening position. Get your best headphones on.
nah, the case was my own decision, the whole build was my own decision. I don't know how i feel about th rice right now, the components look cool on display but its freaking bright and nothing matches with it. It's going to end up like my old build were i eventually turn off the leds and leave it a monolithic black case.
Soo sweet, yes that is a buddha atop my tower, kills the case rattle foo.
Note to self: purchase a smartphone with decent camera
Your battle stations should be in the basement, the safest part of the house.
And wtf is with all these battlestations near windows? Ever seen glare before? do you idiots even use your stations?

My phone autorotates as well to make width>height
Blue for dayzz.
Should I spend $500 on a new monitor setup now (Another 2x 27" QHD IPS, or a single 30" 4K TN) or wait and get whatever best consumer released HMD VR is out at the end of the year?
How does the Novatouch feel? I read too many reports of it feeling too soft and mushy, so I paid the premium for a 55g Realforce. It's just too bad that the keycap selection for Topres is extremely limited.
Living in my van for now I guess...
Parking behind the office where I work, so I can go in there if it's too cold or something.
Also can just run extension cord over to plug like 10 feet from the van.
Yo, dude... that is a sexy bottle jack there... I mean... wow.
It's like... way more awesome than the ones I can buy in a store here.
I would pay at least 50 bucks for one like that which could lift the side of my van (3 ton capacity jack).
And now I have forgotten my picture...
I'll post the other 2 when I got home in about an hour.
I'm currently using a 670 4GB, but it's starting to die and starting to show it's age. Probably going to a 980, or possible a Titan X just for the hell of it, if I have enough funds available in the coming months.
They're three Dell U2414H's
WHY MUST ANONS CONTINUE TO MOCK ME WITH WORKING NIXIE TUBE CLOCKS!!!
I have a lot more wallpapers in my folder if you're interested.
>inb4 keyboard warrior turns into IED about subwoofer
>subwoofer is no longer on computer
>inb4 apple fag
I couldn't pass up all of these displays for $300
how is this bait?
It's a moshi palm guard so I don't scratch the shit out of the top of the laptop. It was free when I bought the computer from best buy
They're not, they're hooked up to the Mac Pro under the desk to the right.
But, you could do three screens with two mini display connections on the left and use the HDMI on the right. I've never tried it though.
Ordered some prints from an artist to put above my futon. Gonna need to build some frames for them.
You can do it just fine. I have 2x displayport displays both 24' fullHD and 1x 40' fullHD display hooked to a 10 meter cable to my living room.
That's 4 displays and you could add a 5th with airplay methinks.
when are super widescreen 120 or 144 hz monitors coming so i can replace this small piece of shit?
Waiting on a mic stand to come in, plus there's a ton of boxes lying around and since more are to come I haven't been feeling motivated to clean it up. Also planning on getting studio monitors soon.
