While YIFY rips are not best, especially lack of 5.1 audio in 1080p rips I can understand why people are using them. 90% of population has either slow internet or data caps or they just dont want to wait and they are going to probably watch it on their "HD Ready" TV or 1366x768 shitty laptop. YIFY is for those people enough, and he also encodes in x264 + mp4 which is supported on 99% of devices. I sometime use YIFY myself, last time I was traveling and airport wifi was shit so I needed small file size with "ok" quality, YIFY is perfect for that.

Do you have the first clue how video compression works m8?

If you have a 20 second 30 fps clip of just a black screen, the codec doesn't store each fucking frame again and again if nothing changes.
Images have no past state, so there the compression is not as good.

This is why webms are so much smaller than gif, gif does not use any form of compression between frames, only per frame.
