You can emulate Windows 95 with it.
Dunno if Linux too.
>>
>What can I do with it?
Play pretty much every 5th gen game and under on it
Is it possible to install
Linux
on it?
Yes
>>
>>46832767
sup /v/
there are a few mods available, installing a custom firmware and using it as a tiny screen for your computer for example or hacking a ps2 controller onto it
>>
No MMU so no.
>>
>>46832767
You can play based project diva on it
>>
>>46832979
This
And don't listen to the fags saying to play SNES on it, it can run some games alright but most of them are unplayable without frameskipping
>>
>>46832979
this is probably the single best reason to own a psp

Toradora definitely is, I went through it on my own PSP. Pic related, bought it from a friend because PPSSPP can't do Project Diva quite so well just yet.

>>46833134
Sorry mate, you're right. I finished Yayoi's route in Perfect Sun, shit was nerveracking though.

Play games on it?
>>
>>46833191
Not >>46833174 but i'm pretty sure, i played Super Metroid on PSP years ago and it was running fine.
>>
>>46832813
Do you mean proper windows 95, or just the NES version?
>>
>>46833276
No it doesn't. You have to turn on frameskip to get a playable frame rate, and that's unacceptable

why is the psp battery so shit
>>
>>46833285
Legitimate Windows 95. 3.11 works as well and I believe you can install Windows 98
>>
>>46833393
You have to turn the psp off all the way, it goes into standby if you don't. Hold the power switch for like 7 or 8 seconds, and it'll properly turn off.
>>
>>46833615
no shit I'm not retarded, I turn it off using the vsh menu from the cfw
>>
>>46833303
2 is better.

>tired of playing with 3ds, close it

I'm pretty outdated here. Mine is on 3.90 M33.

Basic emulators, ps1 games, and backups are the highlights. Lots of the homebrew was written before smartphones were a thing so a lot of it is pretty useless now. Yes you can boot Linux on it.

Why the fuck do people want to boot linux on random consoles? I've seen Linux for the Wii, Psp, and nds.. what's the point?
>>
>>46833631
Oh, beats me then.
>>
>>46832767
I remember running DS linux on my DS 8 years ago and using the web browser to look at porn in my bed.

The keyboard was on the bottom screen and it was CLI only.

Shit was so cool.
>>
>>46832837
You can run uClinux on it though. http://psplinux.info/files/

>what's the point?

I imagine some people like tinkering just because they can. But I agree for the most part. Linux n the Xbox/XBMC was the only useful version of Linux on a console that I've seen.
>>
>>46834445
>Linux n

*Linux on
>>
>>46834445
As it happens I was actually playing with xbox linux a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't find a way to connect it to a repository though, so it seems impossible to install any useful software on it
>>
>>46832767
PSP3000 here. Can run pretty much every single Playstation 1 game fucking perfectly. I use it as an emulator machine for pretty much all consoles before Genesis, Super Nintendo, and PC-Engine. Always get a MicroSD. If I couldn't pirate the games I wouldn't have even bought one.

Since we are talking portable gaming...

I really like the concept of Shield portable but I dislike the OS. Is there an alternative that runs/can run Windows?

I am all grown out of modern games and all my computing gear is for work now. I dont want consoles. I just want to play a bunch of PC games from 2000-2005 on my train commute and only have a pocket device with physical input dedicated to this.

Games like NFS:Underground, Max Payne, Gothic, Vice city, Mafia, Hitman, Rayman, etc... pic unrelated

This, but make sure you use the popsloader plugin
Some games only work well on specific plugin versions, this lets you select which one to run each game with

Oh yeah. You would need the MicroSD to PSP memory card converter. I recommend getting it so you can install the custom firmware, put PS1 and other games onto it, and so on.

Fujitsu P1630 or the like.
