what are some games i can play on linux? how i download/get the games is unimportant just so long as they are native i hate using wine
>>
>>42892310
Lots of Quake/UT style arena shooters and roguelikes mostly.

Xonotic and Brogue are my recommendations.
>>
>>42892328
well im more looking for single p[layer experiences never been really into multiplayer (i suck at it)
>>
>>42892376
Then don't post a multiplayer game in the OP, nerd.
In that case you're sort of fucked. Look through Steam and the Humble Store I guess. There's lots of stuff there singleplayer and multiplayer.

Use PlayOnLinux to get games running in WINE without hassle.

And Brogue isn't multiplayer, faggot.
>>
I strongly recommend swapper. There is also capsized, dust, cities in motion, etc.
>>
Metro is also out there for lunix
>>
>>42892310
urban terror
PlaneShift
>>
>>42892486

>>
Dwarf Fortress and ioquake3. The powder toy is nice too.
>>
>>42892456
the first UT was not 100% multiplayer-oriented and was quite good in solo fun.
Can't find anything as good as this with modern graphics
>>
>>42892328

Xonotic is a fork/the continuation of the original Nexuiz after it was dropped, if anyone cares to try them go with Xonotic.

Spring RTS / Zero-K.

Somehow people almost never mention these despite it being the most developed RTS on Linux... and one of the best in general.

You ought to use wine, otherwise you have a really limited set to choose from. Some games run on wine pretty well, you can look up on wine's database.
Anyway, these games run silky smooth on wine, on my Pentium 4 1 GB RAM PC (so you can imagine they'll run at full settings on yours)
>Unreal Tournament 1998 (fun game)
>Warcraft 3 (you probably have played this one)
>Age of empires, all games
>Minecraft (the .jar file, not .exe, ofc)
>Manhunt (fun game if you are the patient kind)
>zoo tycoon 2
>>
You can play urban terror, assault cube, neverputt, smoking guns and a bunch of other shitty games with playstation 1 / dreamcast graphics.
>>
Xonotic
>>
>>42895058
I'm opted in and all I get to download is the windows version ._.
>>

There are a LOT of games on Linux now.

Look at that, Metro: Last Light
That's a fucking AAA game.
>>
>>42892310
Why torture yourself with gaming (or just entertainment) on linux?
>>
>>42898420
>torture
Ha... Ha?
>>
Don't forget there is also Dolphin emulator which works for Windows, Linux and OSX. That opens you up to most Wii games if you choose that path.
>>
>>42898324
and don't forget to read the warning from your distro about the license. It starts out something like:

This package comes with a fairly substantial non-free license agreement that must be accepted before installing the software.

I'm pretty sure it also eats babies, kicks dogs, and sends money to companies that support non-free software.
>>
>>42892616
It eases the pain of managing multiple wine prefixes.
>>
>>42898394
Goat Simulator is available for Linux?
>>
>>42898493
Yes they released support for OSX & Linux recently.

Guys there are 563 games on steam right now that you can play on Linux natively, +emulation, +open source games, +wine, +tons of small games.

Well over 1000 titles, at least 200-300 are worth playing and the list is growing.
>>
>>42898537

Is there a way around pirating it?
>>
>>42892619
>thread about games shows how bad the lack of games on loonix is

muh gamz!!!!!!!!!!!
>>
>>42898554

I dunno, just wait for it to be in a bundle. Pirating is dead, you can pay like a $1 for most games through bundles and you can make a ton of change selling items and shit on steam market.

Go do achievements on playfire, make like $20 in a few weeks.
>>
>tfw still no CSGO on Linux

gaben you fat jew how do you expect your steamboxes to be successful
>>
>>42898592

Not to mention a bazillion giveaways and free keys for steam in recent months which make you money back through cards.

I've funded my entire 400 games on steam through reselling shit, and it doesn't even take much time, list and forget.

Play DOTA2, CS:GO, TF2, $5-$10 a month for future game sales with no effort.

>>42898625

I'd really like to get into the rewards thing one of these days, especially since I'm getting vacations from work and the uni so it's perfect time to catch up with the gaming on Linux, I've played almost no games since I switched two years ago, even on Windows I was playing very little mostly due to programming and watching stuff.
>>
not a single mention of alienarena? it's bretty gud
>>
XCOM and Civilization V is all you need.
>>
>>42892682
I remember having my mind blown by how good some SpringRTS games were compared to the mainstream, then I went ahead and got owned because I cant zerg
>>
anyone know if theres a comprehensive install script for Unreal Anthology?

There's this game called Red Eclipse that's actually genuinely good if you're into multiplayer deathmatch FPS.
>>
OpenRA
>>
>>42899750
This basically allows you to play Red Alert, C&C 95 and DUNE 2000 natively.
>>
>>42892610
Thank you some much based anon.
>>
>>42892610
>Wargame: European Escalation
Also AirLand Battle and Red Dragon
>>
Hotline Miami

>what are some games i can play on linux?
>games on linux
dude, try playonlinux or check if steam has any linux game ports you like.
You don't have alot of options though.
There's a reason people still use windows.
>>
>>42900265
and that reason is: drivers
>>
>>42892722
>MOBA, eugh.
Is that the cool thing to hate now?
>>
You can play a fair share of them (specially older ones) through Wine.

You can play about 500 steam games.

You can play quite a few decent twitch shooters. And then you have, of course, emulation. Though I only see updated builds of RetroArch for Windows, I need to ask if anyone here knows if there's updated builds on Linux as well. Including shaders of course.
>>
Many games from 10 years ago had native linux support. Look up lokigames for example. Those are not on Steam.

Any luck running League of Legos? It's basically the only video game I play.
>>
>>42900588
From what I heard it runs perfectly with this guide:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/League_of_Legends (Works on all distros)
>>
>>42900625
Seems like most of the issues are with the client/patcher. Hopefully when Riot switches to HTML5 from Shitdobe Air those'll get fixed.

Thanks for the link.
>>
>>42900641

And when is this gonna happen ?
>>
>>42900588
Follow this guide >>42900625
or the one you can find on a popular lol forum thread.

It actually works, the only downside is that you need to reinstall the lol patcher thing and redo texture patch every fucking update, which translates like every 20 days.
>>
>>42900539
One of the defining feature of MOBA is its toxic community, good enough reason to hate them.
>>
The Witcher 2 and XCOM just got ported over. Those are incredible single player experiences. Witcher 3 is coming as well.

A bunch of point and click adventures are compatible too (Broken Sword, Deponia etc) but that's a niche thing. You're probably a AAA GAMES ONRY BAWW guy.
>>
>>42901900
How to avoid the toxicity:
>Play with friends
>Mute the opponents if they start being offensive
>Avoid pointless discussions regarding which game is superior
>Enjoy a great and complex game
