The corporate business class of laptops seem they would be the best ones to use. Adult owned and taken care of. So I guess that means a dell latitude or thinkpad. Company's swap them out for newer models time to time so finding a lot of them shouldn't be a problem. I wouldn't touch ebay

i would like to run it with a single word from any directory. If I make a script that starts dwm like:

#! /bin/bash
startx /usr/bin/dwm

and save it as /usr/bin/startdwm
I can type startdwm anywhere and it will launch. Is there a place in home that i can save this file to so I can get the same desired effect without needing to place it in /usr/bin/ or some root owned directory? If one does not exist can i make my own, ie designate ~/.scripts to work like /usr/bin?

Need a laptop that will last 5 years (in terms of build quality and performance). What's the best Haswell business-quality laptop on the market today, /g/? Looking for something that has good battery life, decent keyboard, and 1920x1080 screen (but 1600x900 works too if it's a good panel). Hey /g/ I am begging for some help here, I am even having to post from a different pc

I have a laptop which has windows 8 installed on it, I attempted to restore it to factory condition today, however, upon installing updates and doing the required restart I became stuck in a loop of update failed messages and reboots

So, I turned the PC off and back on, and now I'm stuck on a never-ending please wait message. I have my legitimate windows 8 product key, I just need to find a windows 8 iso or repair tool I can use to create a live USB to boot from and repair my corrupted operating system

Where can I find a legitimate windows 8 iso or repair tool? I tried using the official microsoft application for UPGRADING systems to windows 8, but it said this key cannot be used to create a retail copy. I realize that a windows 8 license may only be used on one computer, I am trying to reinstall windows onto this computer, I just can't seem to find a repair tool or ISO anywhere online.

you need a tangible goal, ie: something to program

if you don't want to program an actual thing and just want "to program" you'll never learn it

if you have an actual idea you're trying to implement, it's a tangible goal that you can google to achieve and learn to build something organically

Can a 32bit application "use" more than 4gb of memory when using VRAM.

So for example game.exe *32 uses 3gb of system ram.

Your video card has 2gb on board.

Is it possible for that game to "use", via textures or frame buffer, more than 1gb of VRAM.

When I say "use" I know it cant exceed its 4gb by storing any textures there because its only 32bit. But via drivers can extra stuff like frame buffer exceed that.

If you put the LED switches on backwards they simply won't light up, just turn them around.

I would like to butt in for simply a wink. What you're referring to as Linux, is in actuality, Gahnoo+Linux, or as I've of late taken to naming it, GNU + Linux. Linux isn't an operating setup on its own, but in reality another free part of a fully operational GNU setup fashioned into something proper by the core libraries, terminal tools and essential setup components fulfilling an entire operating setup.

Quite a few computer possesors use a subspecies of the GNU setup every single day, without realizing.

There really is a Linux, and these people are indeed using it, but it is simply a part of the setup which is run. Linux is the core, the service in the setup that sends the machine's supply of assets to the other parts of the system. The core is an essential part of an operating setup, but cannot work on its own; it will work only in the structure of a whole operating setup. Linux is most commonly utilized in combination with the GNU operating setup, the full setup is practically an operating setup with the addition of Linux, or GNU+Linux.

Pardon, but Let me take your time for simply a wink. Linux is not an OS by itself, but in reality another free part of a entirely working setup fashioned into something proper by the Guhnoo core libraries, terminal tools and essential setup components completing an entire OS.

There are numerous possesors use a altered edition of the setup everyday, without even realizing it.

There is in fact a Linux, and they do have it installed, but it is simply a part of the setup . Linux is the foundation, the part of the setup that gives out the machine's supply of facilities to the other parts of the setup. The foundation is a necessary part of an OS, but relies on the rest of the setup; it is only operational in the habitat of a whole OS. Linux is commonly installed in combination and the Gahnoo OS, the full setup is practically Gahnew and Linux added, or GNU+Linux. Every one of the "Linux" distros are in fact, distros of GNU+Linux.

Can I cut in for simply a moment. What you're calling Linux, is in fact, Gahnoo/Linux, or as I have of late taken to calling it, Gahnoo with Linux. Linux is not an operating setup on its own, but actually another free component of a completely operational setup fashioned into something proper by the Gahnoo core libraries, terminal utensils and essential setup components completing a full operating setup.

There are numerous possesors use a subspecies of the original setup everyday, without knowing. Through a weird series of situations, the edition which is broadly utilized these days is often called "Linux", and a substantial number of its possesors are not aware that it is practically the GNU setup, developed by GNU.

Linux is the foundation: the process in the setup that distributes the machine's supply of services to the other parts of the system. All of the "Linux" devs are devs from GNU/Linux.

A sizeable amount of computer users use a subspecies of the Gahnoo system everyday, but do not know. By a strange happenstance, the edition of Guhnew which is broadly applied now is often called "Linux", and a substantial number of the users do not know that it is really the Guhnoo Project.

There in reality is a Linux, and they do have it installed, but it is but a portion of the system . Linux is the base, the part of the system that gives out the machine's supply of assets to the other parts of the system. The base is an essential part of an operating system, but cannot work on its own; it is only operational in the shadow of a whole operating system. Linux is most commonly applied in combination with the operating system, the entire system is really an operating system with the addition of Linux, or Gahnew+Linux. Every one of the alleged "Linux" devs are in fact, devs from Guhnew+Linux.

hello, i'm currently using free wifi provided by my company because i don't have internet at home.

i'm on my laptop. the connection does not require a user id/password. (as in i'm connected as how you would at your home: find network -> type in network password which is universal for everybody)

Since last week I been seeing the same posts on the first page, they don't change when I refresh the page and only after maybe one day. It's the same on all the devices connected to my wifi, it works fine if I use the 3g of my phone, so I'm guessing maybe it's got something to do with my ISP. The catalog works fine luckily, so I been browsing using that.

stuff on the mobo is likely going to be different between models. tbh, it would probably work, i just wouldn't recommend it. windows 7 and 8 will probably recognize and adjust to the new hardware and you can just update all the drivers from asrock.

i'm just old school and grew up around windows 9x, 2k, and nt4 and i can say from experience that swapping a hard drive to a different machine or a new mobo was a complete clusterfuck of blue screens and weird errors.

I'm pretty sure it resets if you take to long, and also resets if you type more in your reply after putting in the captcha.

that's what I thought, when I read that other anons problem. But then it happened to me, just in the middle of the typing of the captcha, the captcha-textbox resets and loses focus and I have to start over. The captcha stays the same. It seems to happen very randomly.

Anyone own a Logitech G400s?

Does the img.style you set in the JS appear in pic-related? Set the style by hand and see what happens.

first guess: insert space before 'px':
   img.style = "z-index: " + zinNumber + "; left: " + leftVar + "px; top: " + topVar + "px;";

becomes
   img.style = "z-index: " + zinNumber + "; left: " + leftVar + " px; top: " + topVar + " px;";

2nd guess: don't use img.style, but set the vars directly. Something like img.left = xxx; or img.style.left = xxx; (I don't know the syntax for this)

>>

OMFG your second guess worked!
Now using:
img.style.left = leftVar + "px";
img.style.top = topVar + "px";

Thank you!

This is a stupid question and you will probably laugh but I need it fixed or I won't get my HD in intro programming.

Anyway:
I have to record the time that different sort algorithms sort integer arrays of varying sizes. I'm studying Bubble and Quick. Bubble's fine, but my quicksort implementation appears to solve integer arrays of 100k elements in no more than 15ms. I understand that quicksort is quick, but surely not that quick? My implementation (of the sort procedure, the timer is my uni's own API and I can't share it).

type
DynIntArray = array of Integer;

procedure QSort(var arr: DynIntArray; left, right: Integer);
var
pivot: Integer;
i, j: Integer;
begin
i := left;
j := right;
pivot := arr[Round((left + right) / 2)];

repeat
while arr[i] < pivot do
i += 1;
while arr[j] > pivot do
j -= 1;

if (i <= j) then
begin
SwapInt(arr[i], arr[j]);
i += 1;
j -= 1;
end;
until (i > j);

if left < j then
QSort(arr, left, j);
if i < right then
QSort(arr, i, right);
end;

So say that you're HR at a tech company, and you have a typical application form on your website.

The last form on the page (after resume, cover letter, etc) says something like:

"Describe in X amount of words something that makes you unique. Try to be creative and surprise us"

What would you generally be looking for as a response to this?

I'm planning on buying a dell ultrasharp monitor and I need some kind of simple, usb powered amplifier (so I can use headphones).
I was planning on buying this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-AC511-Compatible-UltraSharp-introduced/dp/B00HVHFYS8/ref=pd_bxgy_computers_text_y
But it doesn't ship to Ireland, at any price.

Can someone recommend something that I can use instead? (I would prefer having it attach to the monitor, so it looks clean and doesn't need a wall-wart)
Worst case scenario, I get some crappy desktop speakers with a headphone port.
