tongue feels fucked after smoking weed

So yeah, weed became legal in my state so I no longer have to bum off others or go through others to a weird dealer, I can just go to a shop and get stuff.

I rarely smoke weed, but never really had bad experiences every time I did (one panic attack from being too aware of heartbeat, that's about it)

Stuff I got from shop works fine aside from one problem: it feels like my tongue is swelling afterwards. Never had this problem before, but both times smoking what I got caused this. Sucking on ice and laying down helped a lot the second time.

I'm told this may because the THC is too much for me to handle, but I'm more worried about if it's an allergic reaction to it.

Anyone else experience this and find out what it actually is?
