Yeah I always listen to how treadmill is so inferior to outside running and always have this problem. I think it's because you are forced to stay at a constant speed on the treadmill vs sub consciously slowing down when you're getting tired outside.

If your goal is to get stronger, cardio will not help you. You should be doing compound barbell movements at heavy sets of 5 or less depending on how far along you are in your progression. Your body needs all of its resources at its disposal in order to recover from a successful workout. In this context, cardio is a resource dump. Additionally, heavy lifting has been shown to improve Vo2 max 20% more than high intensity cardio. Unless you're training at a high level for a cardio-centered sport, don't do cardio. And remember, strength training will improve any form od cardio, but cardio will not make you stronger.
