I (mostly) quit drinking almost six months ago.
I used to drink quite a lot, like a bottle of wine a day Monday-Thursday and then maybe two bottles of gin over the weekend plus a bottle of wine or some beer. Had periods where I drank more and periods where I drank less.
Not quite all-out alcoholism, but definitely not healthy. This went on for some years.

Quitting wasn't all that difficult actually. The cigarettes were a million times worse. I do miss drinking to be honest, even with the hangovers I really like being drunk, but overall I'm glad I quit. It was very difficult for me to imagine that I would ever be able to stay off the booze for as long as I've done.
I still have a few glasses of wine on weekends and I don't find it difficult to keep it at that.

I get something of the same, when I see the scale move down to new numbers I've never seen before I get a good feeling, but it also shows I know what works to a certain degree. So then I don't have to try as hard, but I feel bad for snacking. I had a piece of (delicious homemade) candy previously, while it tastes good, having avoided sugar by quite a large margin it had a sidetaste of weakness.
It tasted sweet, but it wasn't as good as if I were a binger. A part of me still wants to give up and give in to gluttony since it takes - paradoxically less effort to feast then to not.

Alcohol is in the process of being cut down, or down to a minimum and only through wine. However, there are so many temptations out there. A beer here, a beer there. Makes the coping of my miserable life easier right there.

And living with a pork sister is shit. She has half eaten bags of chips everywhere. Soda cans next to the couch. Trash on the side of the couch. Chocolate in the fridge. Cupboards are filled with shit that just waits to expire. Why are (we) fat people so god damn disgusting?!
She smells like the plague too.
She's like 30 cm shorter then me, but weighs 30 kg (I would guess much more then 30kg) more then me.

To any fatties considering "cheating" I recommend Halo Top ice cream. I thought it would taste like it's filled with protein and be gritty but it actually tastes exactly like legit ice cream. Rule of thumb is to be conservative and go for sedentary or whatever is just above that, unless you are very active during the day to the point of building up a sweat.

Especially if you're using MFP or similar, where they tend to be overestimate calories burned.

Take it easy on the joints and do a lot of walking. Most of your fat loss is going to be controlling how much you eat. Weights will help you a bit losing but it's mainly for making sure that once you finally get down to a healthy weight you will be in a certain shape and the loose skin won't be as bad. Do a lot of walking, eat right, and lift.

My mother bought me a deep fryer today. I was excited because I've always wanted to make homemade fries and blueberry cake donuts and not those shitty baked versions.
While I had a ton of fun making the fries and they tasted extremely good with them being crunchy on the outside, yet soft and creamy on the inside, I could only bring myself to eat three.

I'm so close to getting under 200 lbs, man. I've already lost enough weight to make another person, so I can't stop now.

It's so easy to eat 2500+kcal a day. I will never understand skellyfags who struggle with gaining weight, it's so ridiculously easy and effortless.

A couple of pieces of cake are 1000kcal, a big lunch/dinner, especially after work/school is up to 1000-1300kcal. At this point I'm already at above my TDEE, it's only a few hundred calories, but it adds up over time.

Lunch + cake/cookies/chocolate + dinner + various other small snacks and you're easily at over 3000-3500kcal. Watching a tv show or youtube videos while eating something, there's your 1000+kcal easily.

A couple of tablespoons of fucking peanut butter are 300kcal+ and I can eat those in fucking seconds. Two big pears are 200kcal+, how the fuck do skellies struggle with food? It's boggles my mind. How?

They need to do it slowly working their way into it like most fatties have from childhood instead of trying to shovel a fuckload of food into their mouth in one day. That's like going to the gym and lifting the heaviest weights there without any training. All they need to do is drink smoothies chock full of peanut butter and avocado along with whatever fruit and some whey to easily get a ton of calories in a sippable form.

Go with the Katch-Mcardle formula. It's by far the best formula for us fat fucks because it calculates TDEE based on actual body fat percentage, sailrabbit also has the "hybrid" version of the same formula which is probably even more Other formulas wildly overestimate TDEE.

You don't even have to be that accurate with bf% and I can tell you right now you're probably at least 35% fat so use that number or get an estimate on /fit/ or compare yourself to body fat % charts. Use sedentary activity and calculate calories from exercise by yourself.

OK so I get 1690 that way but here's what's bugging me:
I'm coming down from 230 but stalled for personal issues. Was eating 1700 and got down to 186, dropped around 8lbs each month so that was awesome. Then went up to 200-205 cause I just gave up, then maintained and brought it down to 195 now. So I kinda just went "fuck it get back on some shit with calorie counting" and used the myfitnesspal app to calculate and it told me 1340 so hey I used that for a month but kinda just kept the same 195 over the month.

I'm thinking yeah 1690-1700 is right and 1300-1400 was just some bullshit I thought I was keeping to but wasn't really? Idk I think I'll just go with that since it's worked before I just gave up too shortly for reasons that won't happen again.

You fucked up, try again. 1700kcal is a bit too low. I got 1940kcal using your weight and height (also 35% body fat, could be a bit lower or higher, doesn't really matter). Are you sure you're not looking at BMR? You should only be looking at the TDEE row and the Katch-Mcardle formula. Even if your body fat was 40%+, your TDEE would still be 1800-1850kcal.

Unless it's not muscle, you're making mistakes somewhere. Make your own food whenever possible and weigh all the ingredients. Count oil, soda and all that too. You should also measure your waist to make sure you're actually losing fat, take pictures too.

I'm hungry, not really starving. Isn't hunger normal? I am eating below maintenance while also lifting and doing cardio. 1100kcal deficit was too much, I admit, but 700kcal is not that bad I think. I'm not tired during the day even with the lifting and all that. It's just that I get hungry 2-3 hours before bed. Eh, as long as a bottle of water is always handy, my hunger pangs are actually feeling almost satisfying, if that makes sense. I'm eating one meal a day in the evening, and basically fasting after and until I eat it. I have to be well over 1k deficit. Plus I've still got the energy for moderate work out to the point I have my usual insomnia.

I'm down from 315 to 237, but lately it seems like my weight loss has stalled.

Started at 238, down about 17lbs in the past 3-4 weeks. I'm guessing most of that was water weight? Seems like way too much for just a month. Completely cut soda and most fast food out of my diet (ordered a grilled sandwich from chikfila because I was too tired to cook that night) and working with a 1500 calorie limit but my actual intake is probably somewhere around 1000-1200 or lower some days. Trying to go biking for at least an hour three days a week as well.

Been kind of chubby most of my life and started getting really heavy the past couple of years. Finally got sick of myself and decided I've been lazy for long enough. My end goal is somewhere around 160-170. I've never done this before so hopefully I can get there without any problems.

I've always been a huge water drinker but it always resulted in the slowest number changes on the scale.


Too many days my body is a bitch and retains water, especially if I drink too late.


I had my last bottle of water at around 8 pm. Basically didn't piss the next morning. No surprise my weight didn't change, despite eating about 1100 calories and exercising the day prior.


I'm not drinking 64 oz of water a day f that, I'm drinking half that at the most.

IMO it's best to aim low and stop once you are satisfied with how you look. It's a lot easier to stop ten lbs above your goal weight because you are happy with what's in the mirror than to get to your goal weight and realize you probably need to lose 10 or 15 more lbs.
