Is doing ab exercises a meme? A lot of research indicates it's mostly diet and bf% based

Yep. Don't do any ab work anon, it's not like it will make them pop at a higher bf or anything.

working out is a meme too, just dont eat anything and all the fat will dissapear, revealing the nonexistant muscle mass that you have
>>42846141
>Increasing the mass of a muscle will not affect the visibility of the muscle
Think about that statement for a bit, anon.
A low BF% is nessesary to show abs, but you can't show a muscle that you don't fucking have

It's actually the opposite. All exercises are a meme besides ab work. Most good ab exercises aren't just ab exercises they hammer the core. The core is more responsible for athletic performance in most sports than any other part of the body. You're not going to be able to train your legs to compete with elite genetics but you can train your core to be far more explosive and thus increase athletic performance exponentially. Don't fall for the mark ripplefat/ss meme. Do landmines, stir the pot, ab rollouts, band twists/chops, etc. Work your core every day. Squats and deadlifts are only good core exercises if you can lift 1000 lbs they get beat by other core target isometric and other exercises otherwise.
surely a decent strong core would make life easier for other lifts? rather than just to make em stand out more
thats why i want to start doing them anyway
planks and ab rolls will make your entire back and core strong, and help all your lifts. they also will make the muscles pop-out more.
crunches will make them big, so those are better off after you're leaner, as doing them while you're still fat will only make your belly look bigger.
