So his ride gets here and I help him into the car, but then he says he needs to go to the bathroom. Fair enough, I take him there and then back to the car, get him hooked up to his own O2 canister, but he says it's not enough, wants to take the hospital bottle and use both at once until he gets home to his concentrator. Says he'll bring it back next time (?). So I get the nurse and he says the guy can't take the tank, that if he can't go home with what he has they'll have to check him back in. By the time we get there, he's doing better, his tank is enough and they leave. As the nurse and I walk back to the ER, I jokeingly say "remind me not to smoke". That's when the nurse informs me that he STILL SMOKES. A PACK A DAY. He comes in every couple of weeks from lung exacerbations. Almost speechless, I ask him how that's even possible, and the nurse says "Well it's an addiction :)"

I've seen other anons say that you should just join using a pseudonym. I think the chapters have a discord you can go on to chat and stuff. I know sometimes they take pics at meet ups, but the pictures I've seen have all been posed photos, so I don't think they'd force you to stand in the photo unless you want to. Idk about the anti-reich stuff, but like you said it's probably an attempt to not alienate normies and also (speculation on my part) a realization that the current movement is its own and not something borrowed from the past.

I used to be a pretty passive person. I didn't want to commit violence and was afraid of it. This materialized into wanting to demilitarize the police and so on. I was a socialist type person, liked Bernie, but I still did stuff with liberal democrats. At the time, I didn't lift a lot just ran.
I went to the science march in LA last march. The left side was full of suburban, middle aged white people who could barely get around the metro. They had a permit to march, the liberals. The police escorted them from a park in the financial district to in front of the town hall. The ending point was right in front of the police station. What really hit me hard was when we first started marching. There was a statue of Trump, naked, with a hammer and sickle painted on his stomach -- they were saying that Putin was an extension of the USSR. They always punched left, everytime.
I started lifting after that. I got to go to the May Day rally in LA. On my way there, police were crawling all over the metro. The rally started in Macarthur Park, a poor black area. It wanted to confront the counter protesters, bunch of white kids and parents in front of the police station talking about how much they loved to lick the cops' boot. Most of the people on the left side were older hispanic people. They wanted wprkers' rights. Undocumented immigrants are used by farm owners and service industries for below minimum wage, uner the table labor. They wanted ICE to stop raiding workplaces and communities. Black people were there, too. They wanted cops to stop harassing them. Anarchist, socialists, and communists were on thr front line. People in black masks and hoodies intimidated the right wing people, no one on our side was hurt.
I slipped out at 4. When I was in the metro, there were cops with a dog trying to find drugs on a latino kid . He had none, and couldn't charge him. Two fat, white kids were making fun of the protests seconds before they startex harnessing some latino guy with a bike.

I remember hearing an interesting argument about this in the JRE podcast with Dan Bilzerian. His take on it was, from his experience, being able to afford so much excess that it resulted in a loss of desire in general, since everything was accessible with so much money. I guess the point was that an elimination of desire can come from more than one place. At the same time the times in my life without desire have been some of the worst, so I don't think I'd want to get rid of it. Doesn't everyone work out and train because of some type of desire anyways?

I guess I just take less bullshit and accept violence as a part of life. I'm a full blown communist and I've started hating liberal lefties more and more; they get really offended when I say that the modern left lacks testosterone. I'm very quick to call people out on bullshit -- for some reason, people are really aggressive when talking politics but basically fold when the issue of physical violence is brought up.
