Hi guys I'm going to be cutting after my first bulk.
Questions:
>should I stop trying to increase the amount of weight I'm lifting each time I hit the gym?
>should I favor lower weights for more reps?
>should I do as much cardio as possible? Or will that mess with my muscle retention?
>any tips on muscle retention except eat lots of protein?

Idk. The consensus is drop the weight if you're cutting.
But most weightlifters on a cut train even harder to maintain or increase stats in order to make weight.
Clearly you're not a weight lifter but the same rule can apply.
Aka do it and if you can do it then stick with it.

Lift heavy, as much intensity as you can muster. Maybe lower volume depending on recovery.
Low reps high weight on compounds.
Favor high reps if you're going for hypertrophy or running off a specific depletion program (UD2 comes to mind as an example)
Do cardio, but 2-4 days a week. LISS. The cardio you do should not require recovery. Stuff like HIIT will be worse for cutting cardio due to the recovery it can require.
