Is it a good idea to do squats and deadlifts on the same day? By the time I get to the next exercise my lower back is fried and I feel weak as fuck

Sure, upper/lowers are a great setup. Do your squats then take a break, maybe 5-10 minutes depending on how much you exerted yourself, then setup for deathlifts. Its daunting at first but after a couple weeks of working out like that your body gets used to it

I do squats and stiff leg snatch grip deadlift on one leg day, front squat and deadlift on the other. Works great, making all kinds of gains.

That sounds like a good idea. Might just have one day where I deadlift first then front squat after. When I back squat first, my deadlift goes from 160kg down to 140kg. Feels bad man.
