will running PPLPPLx be a good idea for a newbie?
lifted the whole month of may, then stopped, did bodyweight stuff that got me ottermode and some strength gains, apart from that i never lifted
so now im planning to go back, well already got back and started PPL from saturday, so far i like it especially that my recovery time is quick but i'm concerned that i might have needed to run a strength routine first?
halp /fit/

You don't "need" to run a strength routine first. Having said that, the point of PPLPPLx is to crank up volume as much as possible. But there's a limit to how much volume you can benefit from. As a beginner you could probably get the same results doing half the work. A more experienced guy needs the extra volume to continue to make progress.

Here
Pick one of the beginner programs and you'll be good
Making your own ppl program as a beginner is like making a nuke as a high schooler who aced his physics regents

PPL is fucking dogshit.

God damn I'm sick of you DYELs that haven't even been lifting a fucking year giving each other bad advice.

thanks family, i know this ain't no questions thread but here is the thing, my gym has no squat rack (3rd world things), will using the smith machine for squating be a good idea? thhanks again
>>
>>42826138
what do you run my man? and for how long have you been lifting
>>
>>42826154
nah the smith machine will fuck up your form
just use dumbbells to squat
>>
>>42826138
You don't know what you're talking about. It's much much better to run routine that you're motivated to do almost all the time than doing a shitty strength program that makes squats the main lift and gets you a enormous ass/legs, and that probably you're not motivated to do.

You could do PPL, but reduce the volume to a novice level.
Or do a a /Upper/Lower/Rest/Pull/Push/Legs.
Or a /Upper/Lower/Rest/Upper/Lower
>>
>>42825829
Is this even normal for a average human? Won't your nervous system give up if you exercise like this for 6 days a week?
>>
>>42827566
Not for the average human, but probably for the roided guy.
Looks like a "roided bodybuilder in his peak" routine.
>>
>>42825829
PPL is good at being a glorified brosplit with a whole lot of volume jammed in. If you think you can do it for an extended period of time then go for it, man. As long as you make progress you'll get bigger.
That being said, it's probably not a good idea to do Bench and OHP with the same end (strength/hypertrophy) on the same day. Most people cycle them, so Bench for 5x5 and then OHP for 3x8-12, and vice versa the next "Push" day
