If you're interested in fermented foods you might find this interesting. At around 4:30 he starts talking about the process creating a anti-carcinogenic compound that doesn't exist in vegetables otherwise

this is nothing new... I've been doing my own sauerkaut for 2 years and I shit like a champ.

Do you eat any other fermented stuff? He talked on BBC one about naturally fermenting berries into a drink. That sounds pretty cool
I drink kefir every night but im a soviet so its nothing fancy
Whats the compound hes talking about called?

Isothiocyanates, I think
Making sauerkraut in jars is the fucking best
What about kimchi
heard it's gud

Maybe, but after the whole poo-wine thing I don't trust Korean food

i eat lots of cheese, yogurt and dark chocolate. do they have the same benefits as fermented vegetables?
i keep meaning to make some sauerkraut but haven't got around to it yet.

The benefits of aged cheese seem pretty distinct from what I've read about fermented vegetables (the relevant compound there is spermidine, which is also found in chickpea I think)
I think yogurt is mainly about gut bacteria and chocolate is something else entirely.
So while they're all good, I don't think you can use them to cover for what sauerkraut would be doing. From my own research, though, it's not 100% clear whether you get a bunch of isothiocyanates from cruciferous vegetables normally
