COLLEGE MAJORS
what college major are you doing? are you able to still keep up with your routine?

Bio here. I have good grades and I don't miss a day in the gym, but I have to give up all drugs and drink very rarely.
But I found if you get your work done IMMEDIATELY and don't procrastinate you will find yourself with a lot more free time.

Also is it realistic to major in something like bio medical engineering and obtain a grant to create the perfect steroid?
>>
>>42784399
Law, nigga. I can keep up with it and still dedicate myself to fitness, parties and shitposting on this Taiwanese Masseuse Board very easily. I just do everything I need to do the instant I receive the work.
>>
>>42784421

>Have like three hours a day of classes, skip half of them anyway
>"Yeah I'd keep in shape but I'm just so busy!!!"

Undergrads are a meme.
>>
Finance/Econ double major, I have time to lift twice a day during the week.

yeah i get pissed at these fucking tards
>have literally 2 or 3 hours of classes
>skip them
>complain later about lack of money

fuck them. i sit next to this philipino kid in bio class. he brings no pens/paper or books, just pulls out his laptop and sets it on his desk then watches fucking skateboard videos on youtube in class. Then audibly says "wtf" or "wtf is going on" everytime the professor says something. Like dam pay attention nigga, then he always asks me for help. I tell him to just pay more attention. faggot.

CompSci

I get up when my gym opens and then work.

No drugs. Weed would render me helpless and booze is shit for gains.
>>
>>42784399
Management Information Systems, basically computer shit but less nerdy than compsci. Pretty cool, most of the people in it are likeable. Would recommend
>>

Similar here. Business Information Systems.

Pretty chill degree, I like business too, so win win. Have a fuck ton of free time and always have time to find a way into the gym.

where's my fellow engineers at?

>tfw EE master race
>>
Computer science, more specifically software engineering.

Not bad, nothing holds me back, I finish most stuff easily so I go to the gym without problems. Need to work on not drinking as much at parties or when I'm out, that calls for shit gains
>>
>>42784567
switch to something that's more specialized or get several internships under your belt if you want to do something in IT m8. I graduated with an information systems degree in April, and have done 7 interviews since January and still haven't landed a job, if you don't have experience your fucked.

I did have to change my lifting schedule from AxBxCxx to sometimes AxBxxCx. On Fridays I have kickboxing in the evening and if I have lots of early lectures I can't lift early enough for it to not affect my kickboxing. Just doing lifting would be piss easy, it makes it complicated to also do sports.
No partying, drugs or alcohol for me. I consider these things degenerate anyway and would rather do something more useful if I'd have free time.

>>
>>42784421
Same, 1L here. I can't do my usual routine anymore but I still manage to do a 30-60 minute workout 5 times a week.

How do you get confidence to speak in lectures btw? I usually know the answers, and even if I don't, everytime I get called on or when I volunteer to speak my heart pounds like a mf, a start visibly shaking, so my voice sounds bitchy and mumbly and my eyes look like I'm about to cry. I'm fit and look like I should be and speak super confident but everytime I speak I just end up sounding and looking and feeling like a bitch when I mentally don't? Like my body and mind just reacts that way idk...

>>
>>42785499
I always had been an outspoken person, so I kind of like being under the spotlight when I do a lecture. What I can suggest to you is to try and forget the little details, focus on a friend or a person on the front row when you're talking (better if it's a friend, so you can imagine you just talking to him) and remember: you are fucking prepared, you are ready, and your arm is bigger than the head of these fucking DYEL's hearing you, so they should be glad to hear you wisdom. Go full autistic if you like.

The trick is to get going, talk, talk more, walk a bit while you are talking and make large gestures, so you can express yourself better.

>>
>>42785499
There's a little story about my first simulated court. I was doing the paper of a medic, a specialist called to talk about the effects of a long period of starving in a human being (the case was about miners isolated from months that survived eating a faggot).

That qt3.14 came, being a defendant, and said "sir, what do you think about the long-term effects on my clients due to starving period?". I took a deep breath, looked right into her eyes and said "Madam, I am a medic, I studied about physical health, and my specialty is cirurgy. If you want to talk about psychological effects I can recommend you a number of a good psychiatrist of my clinic. Please, for both of our sakes, ask me about something I actually can talk with propriety."

Everyone began laughing like chimps, even the teacher. The poor girl made a face like she was sucking a lemon and ended the questions. I felt like a fucking god, and since then, my confidence in giving lectures shoot up like a fucking mountain.

>>
>>42786110
When you say 0 work experience do you mean no part time jobs either? If youre mid 20s and have no experience in anything then yes you are fucking yourself. Get a job, anything so you dont apply with a resume showing you stayed at home the last 10yrs following high school.

>>42786146
pharmacology. Different country so i dont know what the dat equivalent is. Here you just apply, do a similar dat exam then get interviewed. no research or shadowing. Glad i didnt have to waste my summers sucking cock to pad an application i must say.

Its quite fun, you work with your hands so its a nice change from the paper work. Patient interaction, injections and drills from almost the first day so i enjoyed it a lot. Best of luck

>>42786211
i liked biology, thats why i majored in it. I couldnt find a job so i thought an MBA would be a good way to launch myself into a good paying career

I graduated with a 4.0 GPA and I was in the honors program, and I don't see why I wont also get a 4 for the master program since business school is a fucking joke compared to science in terms of courseload

too be honest I just want to get the fuck out of school and start living already.

>too be honest I just want to get the fuck out of school and start living already.

Fuck do i know that feeling. Will be 26 when i finally begin life (plus debt). If you feel that way now then maybe further study isnt for you. You seem capable so why havent you applied yourself into looking for internships? No point being capable if you never do anything mate cmon. Vast majority of scholarships goes to whites, and the hard work you put in was probably nothing compared to the hardwork an asian put in while trying to get your scholarships.

But you know, american colleges would be mostly asian, middle eastern, eurotrash and nigerian, with a few nigh autistic homeschooled american kids here and there if it was a pure and true meritocracy
>>
>>42786834
>going to uni for meme subjects
why?
>>
>>42786848
You gotta dedicate yourself to what you're good at. I've always liked thinking about deep and complex things most people don't care about, so it was a natural choice for me. I don't know what I would study, if I didn't study philosophy.

That being said, I can fully understand why many people are somewhat scornful towards philosophy and its scholars, and I can somewhat sympathize with them. Some of the students are very lazy posers, who are not really that interested in philosophy. There are a lot of pretentious and complacent people, even among the non-lazy, who just like to feel superior to the fatuous masses, who in their mind don't understand anything about the world. I don't want to be like that. I want to become a teacher, so that I'll actually have a real job, and I won't just spend my life and tax-payers' money overanalyzing the words of men who died a long time ago.

Is networking the real and only way to get a great job?

I've seen dumb people who graduated with a BA in communications, or some BS major end up getting really nice comfy office jobs at big companies. Theres no way a company would hire someone with a shit degree, unless that person kissed a lot of ass, right?

>unless that person kissed a lot of ass

That or theyre just really likeable and people want that. When hiring people in his clinic my father would look at the person first and their marks in uni last. He said a mediocre person you can work with is infinitely worth more than the difficult genius. His work was patient centered so this makes sense and in big companies i can see personality being a big factor.

Dont see it as arse kissing but rather showing that you can do one of the most important aspects of a job; social interaction. The nurse who makes you laugh gets hired over the nurse that has never missed a vein. There is definitely an aspect of 'hook ups' and old boys clubs to it but show people you are capable and likeable and doors will fly open for you

Ah, Melbfag myself, and thanks for the answer. I've heard a massive amount of mixed things too, but the few people I have who are "insiders" tend to be unsure themselve.

I'm glad that its interesting; that's honestly a big thing for me. How full on is it though? I've been told by my uni that I have the option of doing a double degree, and I just need to add a year to my eng course to do it. I have a few options, like, sci and law, but I'm gravitating towards a science degree.

Am I about to utterly swap myself with coursework? I'd be doing science units instead of electives I think.

honestly, a trade isnt bad because people forget that a college degree isn't about making money, its about learning. 90% of colleges started as a liberal arts college, meaning that they are supposed to teach a wide range of subjects so that students come out as well-rounded individuals. Sadly, engineering and computer science programs, pre-med programs, they bring in the money so colleges dont bother with humanities nearly as much as they did

Honest question, I'm currently getting my biology degree, will start focussing on either diseases, cancer mostly; medical things like stemcells or biofabrication, creating things like organs.

Now I recently found out Biology is a meme degree, but even with the fields of Biology I'm interested in (which I was told had a somewhat decent career perspective) will I still not be able to find a job?

I am considering dropping Biology and getting into med school which I know I can get into, but I'm more interested in Biology in general.

What do /fit/?

Finding time to lift at the end of the day isn't hard, usually go at about 8 or 9 pm. The hard part is getting the calories and protein. I have a meal plan but the cafeteria is open at really inconvenient times. Usually have one big dinner a day and then some taco mayo or something for lunch. When I move off-campus I'll have to stop lifting because getting enough protein in my diet will be too expensive.

working in an office isn't bad. it's the people you work with that make it unbearable.

fat, soft men that have never played a sport in their lives but obsess over fantasy football like autistic manchildren. spineless "men" who get offended over off-color jokes, limp-dicked "men" who follow everything by the book and report you or blackball you if you cut corners.

insufferable fat, ugly women who do no work but get paid the same as you. women with nothing better to do than report you to HR for every minor violation.

forced workplace gatherings. "networking events." pointless meetings. meetings about meetings. meme buzzwords like corporate culture, mentorship, coaching, and so on.

Psych is honestly a strange degree. First year is pretty damn simple, but it ramps up really fast once you get to third year and honours, and to actually work as a proper psychologist you need your masters, with clinical psych being pretty competitive.
