What is the relationship between DOMS and hypertrophy? As far as I understand, it's an indication that you caused muscle damage, and that means hypertrophy, but is it worth it to train for DOMS? I mean exaggerating essentrics, larger rep ranges, less rest, stuff like that. Should I be actively pursuing DOMS if my plan is to build muscle, or should I just try to increase weight within moderate rep ranges?

They are simply a sign that you are maybe doing something right and working your muscles. Thats it.
You should just do something that you can progress on and something thats sustainable in the long term and doesnt require you to deload every other week, because are too beat up
Doms are good to find out if your new workout routine has some new stuff in it that you have been lacking
But normally doms goes away
Why would you want it though. It fucks up my confidence and makes me not want to go to the gym

>train "for" DOMS
I mean you said it yourself...DOMS is an expression of hypertrophy
If you aren't experiencing DOMS you aren't experiencing hypertrophy..so..what are your training goals?
The amount of DOMS you experience is 1:1 correlated to the amount of post workout protein you should eat in the next 48 hours (to a reasonable extent) and the amount of hypertrophy you can possibly experience, up to a certain level.

there is none. you'll make most of your gains without getting DOMS at all. it's not an indicator of progress in any way

DOMS are a meme, you are simply destroying your connective tissue and think you are more swole coz inflamation

Both works, but DOMS are more hypertrophic. It is the actual indicator of your muscles being destroyed and needing repair.

DOMS doesn't mean you're getting bigger. It means you're not used to doing what you're doing. https://youtu.be/D2OA9x9UcXU

DOMS are more of a sign that your muscles have undergone new kinds of stress. It doesn't necessarily correlate to hypertrophy but it is a good sign that you pushed your body beyond its zone of comfort.
>be me
>start weightlifting
>doms in entire shoulder girdle for two days after first session
Hot damn, if I just eat enough post-workout protein I'm coming for that snatch WR!
