I know several people his age and younger at my workplace that are as lifeless as his legs in that picture. Living day to day, earning in their 50s what people in their 20s earn.
No achievements, unreachable dreams, lives filled with absolutly nothing.

To be true, I'd rather have a broken spine at 50 that live a broken life with a semi-functional spine of an average 50 year old.
