Do interval training, with a focus on fast reaction time exercises. Focus your lifting on the large muscle groups, since kendo tends to rely on explosive leg power and speed of the shoulders and forearms.
Example: Power clean 5 reps, then do a one minute sprint, then transition to a medicine ball throw with a buddy (optimally doing this with lateral or diagonal movement), rest a minute, and repeat. Or do a clean and press and use box jumps in place of sprint. Or do a squat and do ladder drills. Make sure to vary it.

I'm assuming you're in bogu.
Start sprinting. Kendo is basically HIIT.
Powercleans will give you the explosiveness to hit from a farther distance. Squats/deads are good too.
Don't worry about your arms. Tenouchi is everything and you'll only get that from keiko.
