Is it possible to build muscle strength with little to no muscle mass?

If you get stronger, you will get bigger. As a natural, the only way to get bigger is by getting stronger.

Then explain Bruce Lee.
One of the strongest people in the world, only weighed like 130lbs.

No, Bruce Lee was an actor with a good deal of relative strength and excellent skill. He wasn't "strong" in the sense that he could move a massive amount of weight. What anon said, in terms of raw production of force, is essentially accurate.

He was no where close to the strongest man in the world.

>one of the strongest in the world
If you're talking about physical strength, that simply isn't true

Strongest at what? Throwing good punches? Technique and perfecting the transfer of momentum and force matter just as much as having bigger muscle. In a fight, being too big is also detrimental, as it limits your mobility and will wear you down faster, since muscles are also heavy.
Bruce Lee however sure as hell isn't the strongest weight lifter around.

Ted Wong - "Bruce would do a lot of different types of sit ups and bench presses. He was also using a technique like the Weider Heavy/Light Principle, working up to 160lbs in the bench press for three sets of 10 on his heavy day
>one of the strongest people in the world

Bruce Lee was strong in the sense that he could do 100 pushups as a warmup because of his strict cardio regime. He was more comparable to the dudes who get really lean and vascular on calisthenics and cardio than a bodybuilder who eats shit, roids, fucks trannies and dies in a suana

>Strongest at what?
This
>perfecting the transfer of momentum and force matter just as much as having bigger muscle
Because that's actual strength. Being able to lift weight up in a single direction isn't much in the way of actual strength.

>there are people who actually believe Bruce Lee was anything more than an actor

itt: secrets man shouldn't learn about normies

This is from my understanding
There are 3 types of muscle fibers,
Endurance builds little to no mass
Strength builds moderate mass but takes longer due to the CNS barrier
Strength endurance builds the most mass
To start making gains through pure strength you first need to max out your CNS so your body will be forced to put on muscle
My personal belief is that for the ultimate gains, you have to lift heavy to max out your CNS and then reduce the weight to where you max out at around 10-15 reps and build from there.

Yes do low volume high intensity(of 1RM) routines which will ellicit mostly neuromuscular gains. You can read a pretty good discussion on this in Power to the People by Pavel for the simpler version or in Science and Practice of Strength Training or Supertrainning for the longer version.
