I've heard good things about pavel's simple but sinister program as a break between routines.
I have a couple kettlebells, and they're alright. They're versatile if you lack equipment and the center of gravity is a good change for some lifts.
I think for supplementary conditioning stuff they can be effective, but I wouldn't base my entire fitness lifestyle around them.
